Role Description The Housekeeping Manager is a full-time, on-site role based at The Millen Penang, Autograph Collection in Penang, Malaysia. This role oversees the daily operations of the housekeeping department, ensuring all guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces meet brand standards for cleanliness, presentation, and safety. Responsibilities include planning and assigning work schedules, supervising room attendants and laundry staff, inspecting rooms and common areas, and coordinating deep-cleaning and preventive maintenance projects. The Housekeeping Manager manages inventory of linen, amenities, and equipment, works closely with Front Office and Engineering to address guest needs and room status, and responds promptly to guest feedback and service recovery situations. The position also involves training and coaching team members, participating in recruitment and onboarding, maintaining departmental records, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives to enhance guest satisfaction and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills, including experience overseeing housekeeping teams and coordinating daily operations.
- Hands-on knowledge of housekeeping and laundry procedures, including room cleaning standards, linen care, and use of cleaning equipment and chemicals.
- Demonstrated customer service and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with guests and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
- Experience in hiring, training, and performance management of staff within a hospitality or service environment.
- Prior experience as a Housekeeping Manager or Supervisor in a hotel or resort setting is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage time and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic proficiency with housekeeping management systems and standard office software.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays, as required by hotel operations.
- Relevant diploma or degree in Hospitality Management or a related field is an advantage.
- Knowledge of health, safety, and hygiene standards applicable to hotel operations.
