The Opportunity

As Asia Head, Liability, you will be accountable for delivering profitable and sustainable growth across the Liability portfolio while ensuring strong underwriting discipline, governance and risk management standards.

You will provide strategic leadership to underwriting teams across Asia, driving portfolio performance and cultivating a culture of excellence, accountability and continuous improvement.

The role requires strong commercial acumen, market presence and stakeholder management capabilities, allowing you to influence both internal and external partners while positioning QBE as a recognised thought leader within the Liability market.

Your New Role:

Strategic Leadership

• Develop and execute the strategic vision for Liability underwriting across Asia.
• Establish clear priorities and business objectives aligned to QBE's growth and profitability goals.
• Act as a senior contributor within the regional leadership team, helping shape broader business strategy and outcomes.
• Drive innovation, product enhancement and portfolio optimisation initiatives.

Underwriting Excellence

• Lead profitable underwriting operations through effective portfolio management and risk selection.
• Ensure underwriting quality, governance and performance metrics are consistently achieved.
• Monitor portfolio profitability and emerging trends, taking proactive action where required.
• Champion data-driven decision making and underwriting best practice.

Commercial Growth

• Deliver sustainable revenue growth while maintaining disciplined underwriting performance.
• Partner with distribution teams to identify new market opportunities and strengthen customer and broker relationships.
• Lead the development and execution of business plans that support regional growth ambitions.
• Manage performance against agreed budgets and financial targets.

People Leadership

• Lead, coach and develop a team of underwriting leaders across Asia.
• Foster an inclusive, collaborative and high-performing culture.
• Build succession pipelines and talent development strategies to strengthen organisational capability.
• Encourage continuous learning and professional development across the underwriting community.

Operational Excellence

• Drive simplified and scalable underwriting processes through automation and digitisation.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity and customer outcomes.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement through effective performance monitoring and measurement.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory, governance and internal policy requirements.

Market & Stakeholder Engagement

• Represent QBE as a recognised thought leader within the Liability insurance market.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key brokers, corporate clients, regulators, industry bodies and government stakeholders.
• Act as a trusted advisor to internal and external partners.
• Enhance QBE's market profile and influence across Asia.

About you

You are a respected underwriting executive with a proven track record of delivering profitable growth within Liability insurance.

You'll bring:

• Extensive Liability underwriting leadership experience across regional or multinational markets including wholesale
• Demonstrated success leading large, geographically dispersed teams.
• Strong portfolio management and commercial acumen.
• Deep understanding of Liability insurance products, emerging risks and market dynamics.
• Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building capabilities.
• Proven ability to influence at executive level and operate within complex environments.
• A passion for developing people, driving innovation and challenging the status quo.
