We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as Payroll - Subject Matter Expert (SME) Analyst. Reporting to the Senior Operation Manager- Payroll, this full-time and permanent position is based in Malaysia and offers regional coverage, allowing you to make a significant impact to our Payroll department and its’ growth.


Serve as the payroll subject matter expert for assigned countries by providing payroll process expertise, statutory guidance, training, compliance support, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure accurate and efficient payroll operations.


Key Responsibilities

1. SME & Technical Leadership

  • Serve as the secondary point of contact for related country payroll queries and escalations
  • Own end-to-end payroll process knowledge across the full payroll lifecycle
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to team members to ensure process accuracy and consistency
  • Conduct onboarding training to new joiners, covering related payroll country’s statutory and regulations, Systems/Software involved, SOP, Practice Standards and its applications.
  • Support in new joiners training to ensure have a good learning experience and equipped with the relevant process knowledge.


2. Process Improvement & Automation

  • Drive process automation initiatives and system enhancements, including UAT participation
  • Identify process gaps and implement continuous improvement initiatives
  • Standardize workflows and streamline the process to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability


3. Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., Fair Work, IRD) and internal audit standards
  • Ensure the process standardization in the participation in the migration process, knowledge transfer, transition process across the payroll countries.
  • Proactively identify, assess, and escalate operational risks with mitigation plans.


4. Team Leadership & Engagement

  • Support Line Manager in driving team performance, motivation, and engagement
  • Mentor team members and foster a collaborative, high-performance culture
  • Organize team activities to promote teamwork and positive working environment


5. Stakeholder & Client Management

  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders
  • Ensure customer requirements are met with high-quality service delivery
  • Act as a bridge between operations, clients, and management to ensure to meet up their requirements


6. Continuous Learning & Best Practices

  • Stay updated on payroll regulations, processes, and system changes and prepare to keep the training content up to date.
  • To support the creation and updating the SOP and process map as needed
  • Participate in knowledge-sharing and best practice initiatives
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence
  • Provide refresher or training to the team members upon request from Operations team


Key Requirements

  • 3-5 years of payroll operations and payroll system experience.
  • Good knowledge of payroll regulations, statutory compliance, and payroll systems.
  • Experience in training, process documentation, process improvement and operational support.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Able to recommend solutions to any challenges and implement improvement strategies.
