The HR Manager - Malaysia will establish and lead ONNEC's HR presence in Malaysia, acting as the primary HR representative for a growing region.
As the sole HR professional initially, this role combines strategic HR leadership with hands-on operational delivery, supporting workforce growth, compliance, recruitment, employee relations, onboarding, payroll inputs and employee experience.
Working closely with Group HR, the UK Payroll team and regional leaders, the role will help develop a scalable HR framework, robust governance and people processes to support future regional expansion.
What you'll be doing as HR Manager - Malaysia:
- Lead HR activities in Malaysia and support regional growth.
- Partner with leaders on workforce planning, organisational design and HR governance.
- Develop scalable HR processes and employee lifecycle standards.
- Lead recruitment across Malaysia and support APAC hiring.
- Develop sourcing strategies and talent pipelines.
- Manage agencies, recruitment partners and hiring processes.
- Monitor recruitment performance and candidate experience.
- Support onboarding and mobilisation activities.
- Manage disciplinary, grievance, absence, capability and performance matters.
- Maintain HR policies, contracts, documentation and employee handbook.
- Support onboarding, probation, promotions, contractual changes and offboarding.
- Act as the main HR contact for employees and managers.
- Ensure compliance with Malaysian employment legislation and Group standards.
- Review policies, monitor regulatory changes and advise on employment risks.
- Support audits, reporting, due diligence and compliance activities.
- Liaise with payroll providers and the Global Payroll team.
- Ensure accurate employee and payroll data.
- Support EPF, SOCSO, EIS, tax administration and employee queries.
- Assist with salary reviews, benefits and payroll controls.
- Support an inclusive, high-performing workplace culture.
- Coordinate engagement and communication initiatives.
- Support performance, talent development and workforce planning.
- Promote wellbeing, retention and continuous improvement.
- Maintain HR systems, employee records and workforce documentation.
- Produce HR metrics and management reports.
- Support HR systems implementation and process improvements.
- Develop dashboards covering key people metrics.
What we are looking for in our HR Manager - Malaysia:
- Relative progressive HR experience.
- Strong recruitment and talent acquisition background.
- Experience working independently or within a small HR team.
- Strong knowledge of Malaysian employment law and HR practices.
- Experience in employee relations, performance and absence management.
- Understanding of payroll, benefits and compliance requirements.
- Experience within technology, telecommunications, IT infrastructure, data centres, engineering, construction or project-led environments is advantageous.
- Experience in multinational organisations preferred.
- Degree in HR, Business or related discipline preferred.
- MIHRM, CIPD or equivalent HR qualification desirable.
