Role Description The Audit Technical Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Greater Kuala Lumpur. This role is responsible for providing technical guidance on audit methodologies, standards, and regulatory requirements to engagement teams. The Audit Technical Manager reviews complex audit files, develops and updates audit tools, templates, and best practice guidance, and supports the implementation of new accounting and auditing standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include delivering technical training, offering consultation on challenging audit issues, and coordinating with partners and managers to enhance audit quality and consistency. The role also involves contributing to research and development of audit practices, supporting internal quality reviews, and participating in firm-wide projects to improve processes and efficiency.
Qualifications

  • Strong analytical skills to interpret complex accounting, auditing, and regulatory requirements and provide practical guidance.
  • Demonstrated team management capabilities, including mentoring auditors, coordinating cross-functional initiatives, and supporting a collaborative culture.
  • Technical support experience in addressing audit-related queries, troubleshooting methodology issues, and advising engagement teams on technical matters.
  • Exposure to research and development (R&D) of audit methodologies, tools, and knowledge resources to improve audit quality and efficiency.
  • Project management skills to lead technical projects, implement new standards, and manage timelines and deliverables across multiple stakeholders.
  • Professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, ICAEW, or equivalent, with a strong foundation in auditing and financial reporting.
  • Relevant experience in external audit, preferably in an established audit firm, with familiarity with AOB, MIA, and international auditing standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical topics clearly to diverse audiences.
  • High level of integrity, attention to detail, and commitment to audit quality and continuous improvement.
