Job Purpose
To oversee and coordinate all banquet and catering operations, ensuring the successful planning, setup, execution, and breakdown of events in accordance with hotel standards. The Banquet Supervisor is responsible for leading the banquet team, maintaining exceptional food and beverage service standards, coordinating with relevant departments, and ensuring guest satisfaction for all meetings, conferences, social functions, and outside catering events. The role supports operational efficiency, revenue generation, and the delivery of memorable guest experiences.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Welcome guests, clients, and event organizers professionally, promptly addressing enquiries, requests, complaints, and service issues to ensure guest satisfaction and successful event delivery.
- Supervise and coordinate all banquet operations, including event setup, service execution, breakdown, and post-event activities to ensure compliance with hotel standards.
- Ensure all banquet functions, meetings, conferences, weddings, social events, and outside catering events are executed efficiently and according to approved Banquet Event Orders (BEOs).
- Monitor food and beverage service standards and ensure guests receive exceptional and consistent service throughout all events.
- Conduct pre-event briefings and allocate duties to banquet team members to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, safety, and presentation in all banquet areas, equipment, and service stations.
- Ensure banquet furniture, equipment, linen, operating supplies, and facilities are maintained in good condition and report any defects or maintenance issues promptly.
- Monitor team performance and ensure all established policies, procedures, and service standards are consistently followed.
- Maintain effective communication and coordination with the Kitchen, Sales, Front Office, Housekeeping, Engineering, and other departments to ensure seamless event execution.
- Possess a thorough understanding of all banquet positions and responsibilities and be capable of performing operational duties when required.
- Confer daily with the F&B Manager regarding event requirements, staffing needs, guest feedback, and operational matters.
- Recommend improvements to work processes, service procedures, equipment, and operational practices to enhance guest satisfaction and operational effectiveness.
- Support the achievement of banquet revenue, guest satisfaction, service quality, and cost-control targets through effective supervision and operational management.
- Ensure compliance with hotel policies, food safety standards, occupational health and safety requirements, and relevant regulatory standards.
- Coach, guide, and motivate banquet team members to deliver excellent service.
- Provide on-the-job training to improve staff knowledge, skills, and performance.
- Monitor employee performance and provide regular feedback for improvement.
- Assist in the orientation and training of new employees.
- Identify staff training needs and support their development.
- Conduct daily briefings to communicate event details, service standards, and operational updates.
- Encourage teamwork, professionalism, and a positive working environment.
- Support performance evaluations and employee development initiatives.
- Perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the F&B Manager, or Management.
Qualifications, experience and skills
- Diploma, Certificate, or equivalent qualification in Hospitality Management, Hotel Management, Food & Beverage Management, or a related field.
- Professional certification in hospitality or food safety is an added advantage.
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in Banquet Operations, Food & Beverage Service, or a similar role within the hospitality industry.
- At least 1 year of supervisory experience is preferred.
- Experience in managing meetings, conferences, weddings, social functions, and catering events is an advantage.
Pay: RM2,500.00 - RM3,000.00 per month
