Responsibilities

Role Summary

We are looking for a caring and responsible Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to provide hands-on support to patients and assist the nursing team with daily patient care activities. The role involves assisting with personal care, mobility, patient comfort, basic clinical support, and maintaining a safe and clean patient environment under the supervision of registered nurses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting, and mobility.
  • Support patients with positioning, transfers, walking, and other mobility needs.
  • Monitor and record basic patient observations and report any changes in condition to the nursing team.
  • Assist nurses and healthcare professionals in preparing patients for procedures and treatments.
  • Provide comfort and emotional support to patients throughout their hospital stay.
  • Assist with patient meals, including accurate meal ordering and serving.
  • Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and safety within patient rooms and the ward.
  • Support infection control practices, including changing bed linen and handling used equipment appropriately.
  • Assist with the preparation and maintenance of medical equipment and supplies.
  • Maintain accurate patient care documentation and promptly report incidents or concerns.
  • Assist with stock inventory and other departmental duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Minimum SPM or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a hospital, healthcare, or patient care environment is an advantage.
  • Basic understanding of patient care and healthcare procedures.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Caring, compassionate, responsible, and comfortable working closely with patients.
  • Able to work effectively as part of a healthcare team.
  • Willing to work on rotating shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
