Role Description The D&E (Design & Engineering) Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Kapar, responsible for leading the design and engineering function for store fixture projects. This role oversees the development of detailed technical drawings, specifications, and value-engineered solutions that meet client design intent, manufacturing capabilities, and cost targets. The D&E Manager coordinates closely with internal teams such as project management, production, procurement, and quality to ensure smooth project execution from concept through to manufacturing and installation. Daily responsibilities include managing a team of designers and engineers, reviewing designs for feasibility and compliance, resolving technical issues, and driving continuous improvement in design standards and processes. The role also involves liaising with global retail clients, presenting design proposals, and ensuring timely delivery of accurate documentation to support global roll-outs.

Qualifications

• Strong design and engineering skills in store fixtures or related industrial/product design, including proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, inventor) and technical drawing standards.
• Experience in manufacturing processes for wood, metal, and solid surface materials, with the ability to value engineer designs for cost-effectiveness, durability, and ease of installation.
• Project management capabilities, including planning, scheduling, resource allocation, and coordinating cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Client-facing skills, such as clear communication, stakeholder management, and the ability to translate brand and design intent into practical engineering solutions.
• Leadership and people management experience, including mentoring design/engineering teams, setting performance expectations, and fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and a commitment to quality, consistency, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Product Design, or a related field; experience in retail fixtures or shopfitting is highly advantageous.
