Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and competent Chargeman A0 to join our team on a one-year contract basis. Our company undertakes various engineering projects in the oil and gas industry, including projects at PETRONAS facilities.
The successful candidate will be responsible for operating, inspecting, maintaining, and troubleshooting low-voltage electrical installations while ensuring compliance with safety requirements and applicable regulations.
Job Scope:
- Operate, monitor, and maintain low-voltage electrical systems and equipment.
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on switchboards, distribution boards, motors, control panels, cables, lighting systems, and electrical equipment.
- Conduct electrical troubleshooting and rectify faults safely and efficiently.
- Carry out switching, isolation, and restoration of electrical supplies according to approved procedures.
- Monitor electrical loads, voltage, current, power factor, and equipment conditions.
- Maintain electrical rooms, switchboards, and installations in a safe and orderly condition.
- Conduct regular checks on standby generators, emergency power systems, and related equipment.
- Assist with electrical installation, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Coordinate electrical shutdowns and maintenance activities with clients, contractors, and project teams.
- Implement lockout/tagout procedures before carrying out electrical work.
- Ensure all work complies with the Electricity Supply Act, Electricity Regulations, Suruhanjaya Tenaga requirements, site procedures, and applicable safety standards.
- Liaise with PETRONAS representatives, clients, contractors, vendors, and other site personnel.
- Monitor electrical work performed by technicians and contractors.
- Prepare maintenance records, inspection checklists, fault reports, and daily progress reports.
- Report electrical defects, unsafe conditions, and equipment failures to management.
- Respond to electrical breakdowns and emergencies when required.
- Ensure compliance with permit-to-work and oil and gas site safety requirements.
- Perform other electrical duties assigned by management within the limits of the A0 competency.
Requirements:
- Possess a valid Chargeman A0 Certificate of Competency issued by Suruhanjaya Tenaga.
- Minimum five years of relevant experience as a Chargeman or in electrical operation and maintenance.
- Experience in oil and gas, petrochemical, industrial, manufacturing, or commercial facilities is preferred.
- Experience working at PETRONAS facilities or on PETRONAS-related projects is an added advantage.
- Good knowledge of low-voltage electrical systems, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and safe switching procedures.
- Familiar with permit-to-work, lockout/tagout, and electrical safety procedures.
- Able to read and understand electrical single-line diagrams and technical drawings.
- Good communication, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
- Able to communicate effectively in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
- Able to work independently and as part of a site team.
- Willing to work shifts, overtime, weekends, or during emergency shutdowns when required.
- Willing to travel and work outstation.
Pay: RM3,500.00 - RM4,000.00 per month
