Programs are individualized and medium to long term, typically beginning with a 12-week treatment plan designed to help each client progress in multiple areas of life. The clinic integrates vocational, academic, and alternative educational routes into tertiary education, supported by a resident psychiatric team, child and adolescent psychiatrist, and resident nursing team. Transitions House provides dedicated care for girls in sustained recovery from eating disorders, emphasizing continuity of support and long-term stability.
Role Description The Lead Nurse is a full-time, on-site role based in Kuala Lumpur, responsible for overseeing nursing care within the residential programs for teenagers and young adults. This role includes managing and mentoring nursing staff, coordinating care plans with the psychiatric and clinical teams, and ensuring safe, evidence-based practices in eating disorder and behavioral health treatment. The Lead Nurse will conduct assessments, administer medications, monitor physical and mental health status, and respond to clinical emergencies in accordance with facility protocols. Daily responsibilities also include maintaining accurate clinical documentation, supporting multidisciplinary team meetings, and promoting a therapeutic, trauma-informed environment for residents. The Lead Nurse will collaborate closely with the Director of Residential Services Drs, Therapists, Clinical Psychologists, Pharmacist and Head of Compliance and Governance, contribute to discharge and transition planning, and help maintain compliance with relevant regulatory and clinical standards.
Qualifications
- Current registered nursing qualification and license, with eligibility to practice in Malaysia or willingness to obtain local registration.
- Demonstrated experience in adolescent mental health, eating disorder treatment, or behavioral health in residential or inpatient settings.
- Strong clinical assessment, care planning, and medication management skills, including monitoring physical and psychological wellbeing.
- Leadership abilities in supervising, coaching, and scheduling nursing staff, and contributing to team performance and development.
- Proficiency in coordinating multidisciplinary care with psychiatrists, therapists, educators, and support teams.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with young people, families, and colleagues, with cultural sensitivity and respect for diversity.
- Solid documentation, record-keeping, and basic IT skills to maintain accurate clinical notes and reports.
- Training or familiarity with trauma-informed care, safeguarding, and risk management in adolescent populations.
- Ability to work shifts, respond calmly to emergencies, and maintain professional boundaries in a high-care environment.
- Prior experience in a residential treatment facility or similar high-acuity setting is highly advantageous.
