Job Description

Esmera Global Solutions is seeking an experienced Database Administrator for a short-term assignment.

The Database Administrator will be responsible for the administration, availability, performance, security and integrity of enterprise database environments supporting data platforms.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will install, configure and upgrade enterprise database systems.

The role includes database backup, recovery and disaster-recovery planning and execution.

The Database Administrator will configure and manage high-availability solutions including clustering, replication, log shipping and failover mechanisms.

The candidate will monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks and perform database tuning.

The position includes database security hardening and support for patch-management activities.

The Database Administrator will provide day-to-day database administration and operational support, including on-call support where required.

The role also involves managing user access controls, roles and permissions in line with security requirements.

The candidate will create and maintain automation scripts for routine monitoring and maintenance and maintain accurate database configuration and operational documentation.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should hold a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline.

A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Database Administrator is required, preferably supporting enterprise or mission-critical systems.

Strong hands-on experience with Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL Server administration is required.

Candidates should have experience with High Availability and Disaster Recovery configurations.

Working knowledge of Linux/Unix and Windows Server environments is expected.

Strong troubleshooting capability and the ability to work effectively during critical incidents are required.

Experience within banking, oil and gas or another regulated industry would be advantageous.
