Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Telecommunications Engineer role based in Kuala Lumpur. The Telecommunications Engineer will design, implement, and maintain telecom and network systems for maritime and offshore projects, including configuration of voice, data, and video communication platforms. Responsibilities include performing installation and commissioning activities, conducting system checks, and ensuring solutions comply with relevant industry and safety standards. The role involves diagnosing and resolving technical issues, providing hands-on technical support to project teams and clients, and preparing documentation such as network diagrams, configuration records, and test reports. The Telecommunications Engineer will collaborate closely with engineers and technicians to optimize system performance, support project planning and execution, and contribute to continuous improvement of engineering practices.

Qualifications

  • Strong proficiency in Telecommunications Systems, including implementation, configuration, and maintenance in maritime or offshore environments.
  • Experience in Network Design and related infrastructure, such as routing, switching, and fiber optic networks.
  • Hands-on skills in Troubleshooting complex communication and networking issues and providing structured Technical Support.
  • Knowledge of Voice over IP (VoIP) technologies and integration with existing telecom and network systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations for offshore and marine communications, including safety and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to read and prepare technical documentation, diagrams in AutoCad, and test procedures, with strong attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work on-site in multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Willingness to travel to offshore or vessel locations as required and adapt to challenging operating environments.
  • Experience with CCTV systems, satellite communication equipment, and explosion-proof hardware is an advantage.
