About the Role
Our client is an established F&B distributor supplying a diverse portfolio of food and beverage products to both retail and food-service customers.
We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Marketing Manager to lead the marketing function and a team of marketing professionals. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing marketing strategies that strengthen the company’s brands, generate demand, support sales growth and expand market share across both retail and food-service channels.
This is a hands-on leadership role suited to a marketer who understands the F&B industry, has strong commercial acumen and can translate market insights into effective marketing and trade initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
1. Marketing Strategy & Planning
- Develop and implement the overall marketing strategy in alignment with the company's business objectives and growth plans.
- Establish annual marketing plans, budgets, campaigns and key performance indicators.
- Develop channel-specific marketing strategies for retail, food service, wholesale and other relevant channels.
- Identify new market opportunities, consumer trends and emerging F&B categories.
- Monitor market developments, competitor activities and pricing strategies to identify opportunities and threats.
2. Brand & Product Management
- Develop and execute brand strategies for the company's portfolio of F&B products.
- Manage product positioning, brand messaging, promotional activities and product launches.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen existing brands and introduce new products into the market.
- Work closely with principals, suppliers and brand owners on marketing strategies and campaigns where applicable.
- Monitor product performance and recommend strategies to improve sales, profitability and market penetration.
3. Trade Marketing & Sales Support
- Develop trade marketing strategies and promotional programmes to support sales growth.
- Work closely with the Sales team to develop channel-specific promotions, merchandising programmes and customer initiatives.
- Develop marketing programmes for supermarkets, hypermarkets, convenience stores, specialty retailers and food-service customers.
- Support key account development through customer-specific marketing proposals and promotional campaigns.
- Evaluate the effectiveness and ROI of trade promotions and recommend improvements.
- Provide the Sales team with marketing materials, product information, presentations and other sales-support tools.
4. Digital Marketing & Consumer Engagement
- Lead the company's digital marketing strategy across relevant platforms.
- Oversee social media, content marketing, website, email marketing and digital campaigns.
- Develop engaging content that increases brand awareness and product demand.
- Monitor digital campaign performance and use data and insights to improve effectiveness.
- Explore new digital channels and marketing technologies to enhance customer and consumer engagement.
5. Marketing Campaigns & Events
- Plan and execute integrated marketing campaigns across online and offline channels.
- Organise product launches, exhibitions, roadshows, sampling activities, trade events and other promotional initiatives.
- Work with external agencies, designers, media partners and other vendors when required.
- Ensure all marketing activities are delivered within budget, timelines and agreed objectives.
6. Market Research & Analytics
- Conduct market research and analyse consumer, customer and industry trends.
- Track sales performance, market share, campaign results and customer feedback.
- Use data and market insights to identify opportunities for growth.
- Prepare regular marketing performance reports and recommendations for management.
7. Team Leadership
- Lead, manage and develop the marketing team.
- Set clear objectives, KPIs and priorities for team members.
- Coach and mentor the team to improve their capabilities and performance.
- Allocate resources effectively across campaigns and projects.
- Foster a collaborative, creative and results-oriented marketing culture.
8. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Sales, Procurement, Operations, Supply Chain and Finance to ensure marketing plans are commercially viable and operationally executable.
- Coordinate product launches and promotions with inventory and supply-chain requirements.
- Ensure marketing activities are aligned with product availability, pricing and sales objectives.
- Provide management with insights and recommendations on market opportunities and business growth.
Requirements:
- Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications or a related discipline.
- Minimum 6–8 years of relevant marketing experience, preferably within the F&B, FMCG, consumer products or distribution industry. Experienced in dealing with principals.
- Proven experience managing and developing a marketing team.
- Strong understanding of F&B/FMCG retail and food-service channels.
- Demonstrated experience in brand management, trade marketing and integrated marketing campaigns.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to link marketing activities to revenue and business results.
- Experience managing marketing budgets and measuring campaign ROI.
- Strong analytical, strategic planning and project management skills.
- Good understanding of digital marketing and social media platforms.
- Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder-management skills.
Pay: RM8,000.00 - RM12,000.00 per month
