Job Description

Responsibilities

English + Science / Second Subject

Ancourage Academy is looking for a committed and versatile

Full-Time Teacher

to join our teaching team.

The ideal candidate should be confident teaching

Primary and Secondary English

, with the ability to also teach

Science

being highly preferred. Candidates who are strong in English and able to teach

another academic subject

are also welcome to apply.

This is a full-time teaching role that also involves curriculum development and supporting the wider academic and operational needs of the Academy.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Student Development

Teach engaging and structured lessons for Primary and/or Secondary students.

Strong preference for candidates who can teach:
Primary English

Secondary English

Primary Science

Secondary Science

Candidates who can teach

English together with another academic subject

will also be considered.

Prepare and deliver lessons according to students' learning needs and the relevant Singapore syllabus.

Explain concepts clearly and adapt teaching approaches for students of different abilities.

Mark assignments, worksheets, tests and other student work.

Provide clear and constructive feedback to students.

Monitor students' academic progress and identify areas requiring additional support.

Prepare students for school examinations, PSLE and/or O-Level examinations where applicable.

Conduct trial lessons, regular classes, replacement classes and academic programmes when scheduled.

Communicate students' progress and learning needs appropriately to the Academy and parents.

Curriculum Development

The successful candidate will also contribute actively to the development of Ancourage Academy's teaching resources.

Responsibilities may include:
Developing and improving lesson plans, worksheets and teaching materials.

Creating practice questions, revision materials and assessment papers.

Reviewing and updating existing curriculum materials.

Ensuring teaching materials remain relevant to current syllabus and examination requirements.

Developing worked examples, teaching notes and answer keys.

Identifying common student misconceptions and incorporating appropriate teaching strategies into the curriculum.

Supporting the creation of new programmes, holiday programmes and academic resources.

Working with other teachers to maintain consistent teaching standards across classes.

Academic & Centre Support

As part of our in-house team, the teacher may also assist with:

Organising and maintaining teaching resources.

Supporting student progress tracking and academic records.

Assisting with class scheduling and academic coordination where required.

Supporting centre activities, workshops, events and programmes.

Providing academic input for student or parent enquiries when required.

Collaborating with other teachers and centre staff on student-related matters.

Assisting with general centre operations during non-teaching periods.

Carrying out other reasonable duties related to the Academy's academic and operational needs.

Marketing & Content Support

The role may also involve supporting the Academy's educational marketing and content initiatives, including:

Providing ideas for educational and academic content.

Assisting with the development of short educational posts, videos or learning tips.

Contributing subject knowledge to social media and marketing materials.

Supporting centre events, open houses and promotional activities where required.

Assisting with the preparation of educational content that showcases the Academy's teaching programmes.

This is primarily a

teaching and academic role

; marketing responsibilities are intended to support the Academy's educational content and activities.

Requirements

Strong command of written and spoken English.

Able to teach

Primary and Secondary English

confidently.

Ability to teach

Primary and/or Secondary Science is highly preferred

.

Candidates who can teach English together with another academic subject are also encouraged to apply.

Good understanding of the Singapore school curriculum and examination requirements.

Diploma, Bachelor's Degree or other relevant qualification preferred.

Previous teaching, tutoring or education experience is advantageous.

Fresh graduates with strong subject knowledge and teaching ability may also be considered.

Able to explain concepts clearly and communicate effectively with children and teenagers.

Responsible, organised and able to manage teaching preparation and marking independently.

Comfortable working collaboratively as part of an academic team.

Curriculum writing or educational content-development experience is an advantage.

Comfortable supporting occasional academic marketing/content activities.

Able to work at

both our Bishan and Woodlands centres

, according to the assigned schedule.

Able to commit to a

5.5-day work week

.

The successful candidate should be willing to take ownership of students' learning, contribute ideas to improve our curriculum and work together with the wider team to continuously improve the learning experience at Ancourage Academy.

Candidates with the ability to teach

both English and Science across Primary and Secondary levels will be given strong consideration
