Responsibilities

Stock Operations

• Receive and inspect incoming deliveries, check quantities against purchase orders, and log discrepancies. Keep physical stock organised by SKU for easy pick-up.
• Label, bin, and shelve products following FIFO where applicable to reduce obsolete stock. Maintain clean and safe storage areas at all times.
• Prepare stock transfers and replenishment for the showroom and workshop so sales and installs are never delayed.
• Run daily checklists for opening and closing stock positions to ensure accuracy and accountability.

Inventory Data & Reporting

• Update stock records in the POS or inventory system and maintain accurate SKU details. Reconcile system counts with physical counts weekly.
• Conduct cycle counts and full stock takes, log variances, and follow up to identify root causes. Produce basic inventory reports for management review.
• Use checklists and simple spreadsheets to track returns, damaged items, and warranty stock movements.
• Suggest small process improvements based on count results to reduce recurring discrepancies.

Supplier & Store Coordination

• Coordinate with suppliers on deliveries, short shipments, and replacements to speed up resolution. Keep purchase orders and receiving documents organised.
• Work with sales and workshop staff to prioritise urgent parts and manage backorders clearly and promptly.
• Assist with basic stock ordering recommendations based on minimum levels and sales triggers, escalating larger decisions to the manager.
• Help train new colleagues on stock routines and checklist use to maintain consistent standards.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience handling inventory or store stock in retail or workshop settings. Experience in automotive parts or similar retail is preferred but not mandatory.
• Basic secondary education or equivalent work experience that shows reliability and attention to detail.
• Comfortable working full-time with flexible hours when stocktakes or deliveries require it.

Hard Skills & Knowledge

• Practical knowledge of Stock Management and Stocks (Inventory) processes, including SKU handling and cycle counts.
• Familiarity with Stock Keeping Unit principles and using checklists for day-to-day tasks.
• Experience using POS or basic inventory software and maintaining accurate records in spreadsheets.
• Competence in receiving, inspecting, and documenting deliveries and stock variances.

Soft Skills & Qualities

• Organised and reliable, with a clear habit of following checklists and routines to reduce mistakes.
• Good communicator who can coordinate with suppliers, workshop staff, and sales colleagues calmly.
• Problem solver who notices trends in stock differences and suggests small, practical fixes.
• Physical stamina for lifting and moving parts, and a safety-first mindset while handling inventory.
