Responsibilities

POSITION : EXECUTIVE, INVESTIGATION

Division: Internal Audit

Department: Investigation

Location: Pasir Gudang, Johor

Reports To: Manager, Investigation

Job Purpose

To support the Manager, Investigation in conducting independent, objective and evidence-based investigations into suspected fraud, misconduct, corruption, conflicts of interest, procurement and tender irregularities, contract or project-related matters, whistleblowing matters and other cases assigned to the Internal Audit Division.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and conducting investigations in accordance with approved MMHE investigation procedures and applicable professional standards.
  • Conduct investigative interviews and accurately document written statements, interview notes and other investigation records.
  • Gather, preserve, review and analyse documentary, physical, digital and testimonial evidence while maintaining confidentiality and proper chain of custody.
  • Perform site visits, open-source research, data analysis and other fact-finding activities relevant to assigned investigations.
  • Analyse evidence to identify irregularities, root causes, contributing factors, control weaknesses and governance gaps.
  • Prepare investigation working papers, evidence schedules, chronologies, findings and draft investigation reports for review by the Manager, Investigation.
  • Recommend practical and risk-based control or process improvements to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain integrity, objectivity, professional scepticism, confidentiality and independence throughout the investigation process.
  • Contribute to the improvement of investigation procedures, templates, tools, knowledge-sharing and other departmental initiatives.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline. Candidates with a Diploma should possess sufficient relevant hands-on investigation experience.
  • Minimum five years of relevant experience in corporate investigations, fraud examination, internal audit investigations, forensic reviews, compliance, law enforcement, security investigations, engineering or technical investigations, or a related field.
  • Experience in procurement, tender, contract, project, vendor, operational, engineering or whistleblowing investigations will be an advantage.
  • Strong analytical, interviewing, evidence-management and investigation report-writing skills.
  • High integrity, objectivity, professional judgement and ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Data analytics or digital investigation skills will be an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel to MMHE offices, yards, project locations or other relevant sites when required.


Professional Certification

  • Possession of the Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) certification is preferable and will be considered an added advantage.
  • Other relevant certifications or training in corporate investigations, internal audit, forensic accounting, investigative interviewing, data analytics or digital investigations will also be advantageous.
