Senior Refrigeration Technician — Level 2 / Level 3

Position Overview

We are looking for experienced and responsible Senior Refrigeration Technicians to join our project and service team. The successful candidate will install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain industrial refrigeration and coldroom systems while ensuring safe, efficient and high-quality workmanship.

The candidate’s appointment as Level 2 or Level 3 will be determined by technical competency, experience, leadership ability and capacity to work independently.

Key Responsibilities

Install, service and maintain industrial refrigeration and coldroom systems.

Diagnose electrical, mechanical and refrigeration-system faults.

Perform compressor servicing, refrigerant charging, pressure testing, vacuuming and system commissioning.

Install and repair refrigerant piping, insulation, drainage and control wiring.

Service air-cooled and water-cooled condensing units, unit coolers, pumps and related equipment.

Read technical drawings, wiring diagrams and equipment manuals.

Record operating readings such as pressure, temperature, current and voltage.

Complete service reports, checklists, site photographs and material records accurately.

Respond to breakdowns and carry out emergency repairs when required.

Follow company work procedures, safety requirements and site regulations.

Maintain tools, instruments, equipment and company vehicles properly.

Guide junior technicians and ensure assigned work is completed on schedule.

Communicate site conditions, technical issues and material requirements clearly to the supervisor or manager.

Level 2 Expectations

Able to perform standard installation, servicing and repair work with minimal supervision.

Able to troubleshoot common refrigeration and electrical faults.

Able to use refrigeration and electrical testing instruments correctly.

Able to lead a small work team for routine assignments.

Requires approximately 3–5 years of relevant experience.

Level 3 Expectations

Able to independently diagnose complex system faults and recommend suitable corrective actions.

Able to lead technicians during major breakdowns, installations and commissioning work.

Strong understanding of compressors, control systems, protection devices and refrigeration cycles.

Able to coordinate site activities, manpower, materials and work progress.

Able to communicate professionally with customers, consultants and project representatives.

Able to train and assess junior technicians.

Requires approximately 5–8 years or more of relevant experience.

Requirements

Certificate, SKM, Diploma or equivalent qualification in Refrigeration, Air-Conditioning, Electrical, Mechanical or a related technical field.

Relevant experience in commercial or industrial refrigeration is preferred.

Experience with Bitzer compressor systems, coldrooms, freezer rooms and chilled rooms is an advantage.

Basic electrical troubleshooting and control-panel knowledge.

Familiarity with Freon refrigerants; CO₂ refrigeration experience is an additional advantage.

Possess a valid driving licence and be willing to travel to different sites.

Willing to work overtime, attend breakdown calls and work outside normal hours when necessary.

Physically fit and comfortable working at construction and industrial sites.

Responsible, disciplined, safety-conscious and capable of working as part of a team.

GDL License, CIDB Green Card and relevant competency certificates are advantageous.
