We are seeking an AI Algorithms and Systems Architect to lead research and experimental development in edge sensing systems, sensor networks, and artificial intelligence for contactless sensing applications. The role focuses on developing sensing algorithms, system architectures, and experimental prototypes, as well as exploring new wireless sensing modalities and applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the research and experimental development of edge sensing systems and sensor networks, including sensor integration, embedded processing, distributed data acquisition, and edge-cloud system architecture.
• Serve as the algorithm lead for expanding into additional wireless sensing modalities, such as Wi-Fi sensing or millimeter-wave radar, and develop new sensing algorithms, system designs, and experimental prototypes.
• Research and develop sensing algorithms, machine learning models, multi-sensor fusion, and on-device AI methods to improve sensing accuracy, robustness, spatial resolution, and real-time performance.
• Develop and experimentally evaluate end-to-end sensing architectures connecting sensing devices, edge gateways, and cloud services under bandwidth, connectivity, power, and sensor heterogeneity constraints.
• Build experimental firmware, software, and integrated system prototypes, and design controlled experiments and field evaluations to investigate technical uncertainties and benchmark performance against relevant research baselines and commercial solutions.
• Provide scientific and technical leadership across algorithm, embedded systems, and software R&D, and work with product and engineering teams to define research questions, measurable objectives, milestones, and evaluation criteria.
• Lead the preparation of research outputs and R&D proposal development, including academic and industry experience papers, technical reports, and the scientific and technical content of funding proposals.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or above in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related STEM discipline from a local Hong Kong university or a well-recognized non-local institution.
• Research and development experience in sensing algorithms, signal processing, machine learning, sensor networks, embedded systems, or edge computing.
• Proficiency in Python and C/C++, with experience in Linux-based development.
• Experience developing sensing algorithms, software, or system prototypes and conducting experimental evaluation.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaborate across teams.
• Must be legally permitted to work in Hong Kong and able to undertake full-time R&D work in our Hong Kong office.

Preferred Qualifications

• A PhD in a relevant STEM discipline with research experience in wireless sensing, sensor networks, edge computing, artificial intelligence, or computer systems.
• Experience developing new sensing algorithms, applications, or experimental systems.

Pay: $35,000.00 - $50,000.00 per month
