Responsibilities

Job Summary:

Kickstart your accounting career with a dynamic professional services firm! We are seeking a motivated Accounts Associate to join our client services team. In this entry-level role, you will handle full-set bookkeeping, statutory tax compliance (Forms E, EA, BE, B, P), audit coordination, and direct client communications. Ideal for fresh graduates and early-career accounting professionals eager to build strong technical foundations, work directly with business owners and regulatory bodies, and fast-track their journey toward becoming a professional accountant.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Full-Set Accounts: Prepare full-set accounts, bank reconciliations, and audit working papers accurately and on time.
  2. Reconciliation & Ledger Checks: Check that opening balances match the latest audited reports, and raise any discrepancies or unusual transactions with the client.
  3. Deadline Management: Keep track of key compliance deadlines (audit, tax, SST, and employer returns) and remind clients ahead of time.
  4. Client Liaison: Speak directly with clients to resolve day-to-day accounting queries and explain their numbers clearly.
  5. Audit & Authority Support: Assist during client audits and correspond professionally with external auditors, IRB/LHDN, and Customs (RMCD) officers.
  6. Employer & Personal Tax Returns: Prepare and review tax forms including Form E & EA, Form BE (individual), and Form P & B (partnership/business), helping clients through the submission process.
  7. On-Site & Outstation Work: Support both office-based tasks and field assignments, including outstation client visits when required.
  8. Software & Best Practices: Stay up-to-date with common accounting software and adopt efficient ways of working.
  9. Teamwork & SOPs: Follow company SOPs and KPIs, collaborate with teammates, and assist with ad-hoc accounting tasks as assigned.
  10. Learning & Growth: Attend relevant technical training, workshops, and industry networking events to build your skills.

Job Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent professional qualification (e.g., ACCA foundation / LCCI / CAT).
  2. Fresh graduates are strongly encouraged to apply. Applicants with 1 to 2 years of bookkeeping, audit, or tax experience are also welcome.
  3. Basic understanding of full-set accounting, bookkeeping principles, and double-entry concepts.
  4. Familiarity with local tax forms, specifically employer forms (Form E/EA) and individual/business tax returns (Form BE, B, or P).
  5. Practical experience or coursework exposure to accounting software (e.g., SQL Financial, AutoCount, UBS, Xero, or QuickBooks) and basic Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, basic formulas).
