Responsibilities

SUMMARY OF POSITION

Excellent opportunity for a dynamic person to join a cable manufacturing company as a Production Manager in Kulim, Kedah. This position is responsible for maintaining a comprehensive understanding of the capacity and resources issues facing the factory, and functions at both strategic and tactical levels in the management and decision-making process. Full responsible for overseeing all plant Key Performance Indicator (KPI) deliverables, including productivity, product quality, on-time delivery, cost management, and production manpower efficiency. 


PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES, ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Plan, manage and control overall productions activities to achieve daily production output • Oversee the production planning, staffing, and day-to-day manufacturing operations
  • Monitor the introduction of new products into the manufacturing facility • Monitor engineering change orders that are in the Production phase
  • Monitor production orders or schedules to ensure product(s) and scheduled delivery dates are met
  • Prepare daily and weekly reports monitoring items such as attainment of production schedules, on time deliveries, efficiency, productivity, quality, scrap, etc.
  • Develop and monitor the department budget
  • Prepare operational schedule and coordinate manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications
  • Monitor all quality initiatives and work to root cause and closure • Plan production operations, establish priorities and sequences for manufacturing products
  • Review production and operating reports and resolve operational manufacturing and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Planning teams to resolve production issues.
  • Develop and work with supervisors in all areas such as problem solving, setting and achieving goals, manufacturing processes, scheduling, and equipment problems • Develop and revise standard operational and working practices
  • Continuously improve existing processes
  • Identify the staff knowledge and skills gap. Provide input and suggestions on the training requirement for all the production workers
  • Plan, direct, and execute engineering projects related to manufacturing methods, processes, work measurement, routings, engineering changes, cost estimating, facilities, systems, and equipment using knowledge of existing capabilities and current technology
  • Responsible for the development of safe, efficient, and cost-effective manufacturing processes and procedures
  • Works with design engineering to improve the manufacturability of our products • Provides technical support to shop operations in the area of equipment, layout, tools, fixtures, and machines to ensure low-cost and high-quality products.
  • Implementation of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and conducts process capability studies on critical processes
  • Ensure all the workers follow the safety rules and regulations in daily operations as well as the company’s policies.
  • Support and lead continuous improvement efforts within and outside the responsible department  


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:


Experience:

• Fifteen (15) years of progressive experience in all phases of industrial/manufacturing engineering in Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS)

• Eight (8) years in a Production Manager role managing at least 1,000 direct labor assemblers • Experience in managing high mix – low volume production environment

• Knowledge of Quality Management Systems, ISO 9001, and Six Sigma

• Experience in leading Lean/Six Sigma projects, Black Belt Certification preferred

• Demonstration of good project management experience

• Effective in working both independently and in a team setting

• Interact with all levels of complex organizations

• PC: Word, Excel, Power Point, and MS Project

• Attention to details and follow-up

• Above average computer skills to enable incumbent to utilize database, spreadsheet, word processing programs, statistical and Computer Aided Drafting programs

• Able to set aggressive targets, accepts consequences of actions, and holds others accountable 


Qualification:

• Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing or industrial engineering or related discipline

• Must be a self-starter with the ability to work alone, or in a team environment with limited supervision

• Acts in an ethical and truthful manner, leading by example and earning the respect and trust of co workers, customers, and other stakeholders

• Flexible and adaptive • Delivers commitments, producing work of the highest quality in a timely and effective manner.

• Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

• Languages: Malaysian & English
