Data Center Technician — Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (Hybrid) | RM 60,000 – RM 90,000 per year | Full-time

Our client — a global IT services and infrastructure solutions provider — is growing its footprint in Southeast Asia and is looking for a Data Center Technician to join their new Kuala Lumpur office.

This is a hands-on, high-visibility role supporting critical infrastructure across the region, with the bulk of on-site work based out of Cyberjaya and additional coverage in Johor. When you're not needed on-site, you'll work remotely — with ad hoc travel across APAC (think Singapore, Hong Kong, Taipei, Osaka, and Melbourne) tied to construction schedules and special projects.

What you'll be doing

• Performing hands-on installation, racking, cabling, and maintenance of servers and network hardware in data center environments
• Providing on-site "remote hands" support for infrastructure builds, break/fix issues, and hardware decommissioning
• Supporting data center staging, logistics, and equipment deployment across Cyberjaya and Johor sites
• Traveling periodically across APAC to support construction milestones and special projects
• Coordinating with global technical teams to troubleshoot and resolve hardware and connectivity issues

What we're looking for

• Based in or near Kuala Lumpur, with proximity to Cyberjaya a plus
• Hands-on experience in a data center, colocation, or IT infrastructure environment (racking, structured cabling, hardware installation, remote hands/break-fix)
• Comfortable working independently and traveling on short notice when needed
• Strong communication skills for coordinating with distributed, global teams
• Willingness to travel regionally within APAC as project needs arise

Nice to have

• Network engineering experience or certifications (CCNA, Network+, or similar) — a big plus for this role
• Experience supporting multi-site or multi-country infrastructure operations
• Familiarity with data center standards and structured cabling best practices
