Experienced Barista (Full-Time)

Location: Brew & Bites, Klang
Salary: Negotiable (Based on Experience)

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Barista to join our team at Brew & Bites, a café concept that brings together modern café culture and Malaysian heritage coffee traditions.

Our beverage menu will feature a combination of modern espresso-based drinks, specialty beverages, and traditional kopitiam-style coffee and tea.

The ideal candidate should have strong basic coffee knowledge, good beverage preparation skills, and a professional service mindset. Training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare high-quality modern coffee beverages including espresso, latte, cappuccino, Americano, Spanish latte and other signature drinks.
• Prepare Malaysian heritage beverages such as Kopi, Kopi O, Kopi C, Teh, Teh O, Teh C and other traditional kopitiam-style drinks.
• Learn and follow our standard recipes and preparation methods for heritage coffee and tea.
• Prepare modern non-coffee beverages such as matcha, chocolate, tea and signature drinks.
• Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders and other beverage equipment.
• Ensure consistency in taste, strength, temperature, portion and presentation for every beverage.
• Maintain proper coffee extraction, milk steaming and beverage preparation standards.
• Provide excellent customer service and interact with customers professionally.
• Assist in training junior baristas and new beverage staff.
• Maintain an efficient workflow during peak operating hours.
• Maintain cleanliness, hygiene and organisation of the beverage station.
• Monitor beverage ingredients and stock while minimising wastage.
• Support the development and testing of new modern and heritage-inspired beverages.

Requirements

• Minimum 1–2 years of experience as a Barista or in a similar café environment.
• Good knowledge of coffee beans, espresso extraction, grinding and brewing techniques.
• Comfortable operating commercial espresso machines and grinders.
• Latte art skills are preferred.
• Experience preparing traditional kopitiam beverages is an advantage, but not required as training will be provided.
• Willing to learn both modern and traditional beverage preparation techniques.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Responsible, punctual and able to maintain high cleanliness standards.
• Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced café environment.
• Able to work shifts, weekends and public holidays when required.

We are looking for a Barista who is excited to work with both worlds — from pulling a good espresso and creating latte art to preparing a consistent cup of traditional kopi or teh.

You don't need to know everything from day one. Training will be provided for our heritage coffee and tea recipes, preparation techniques and SOPs.
