Kindergarten Teacher

Job Purpose
The Kindergarten Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning experiences for young children, supporting their cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teaching & Learning
- Plan and deliver age-appropriate, STEM-integrated lessons aligned with MJA’s curriculum and extended curriculum.
- Use play-based, inquiry-based, and experiential learning approaches to introduce early concepts in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
- Design hands-on activities such as exploring nature, building and constructing, patterning, measuring, experimenting, and problem-solving.
- Foster curiosity, creativity, confidence, critical thinking, and foundational STEM skills through guided exploration and questioning.
- Classroom Management
- Create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment that encourages exploration, experimentation, and discovery.
- Organise learning spaces to support STEM learning corners (e.g. construction, discovery, numbers & patterns).
- Observe, assess, and document children’s progress in cognitive, social, emotional, and early STEM development.
- Manage classroom routines, positive behaviour guidance, and smooth transitions, especially during hands-on and group STEM activities.
- Student Development
- Support individual learning needs and developmental milestones, recognising different learning paces and styles.
- Encourage children to ask questions, test ideas, try again, and learn from mistakes in a growth-mindset STEM environment.
- Identify learning or behavioural concerns and escalate appropriately to the Principal with relevant observations.
- Promote positive values, independence, collaboration, and social skills through team-based and project-based activities.
- Parent Communication
- Communicate children’s learning progress to parents through STEM-informed progress reports, portfolios, and meetings.
- Share children’s learning journeys, projects, and discoveries to help parents understand how STEM is taught through play.
- Partner with parents to extend learning at home through simple, age-appropriate STEM activities and everyday experiences.
- Professional Responsibilities
- Prepare lesson plans, learning materials, and assessments that integrate early STEM concepts with literacy and numeracy.
- Maintain proper documentation, child observations, and learning evidence.
- Participate in training, professional development, meetings, and school activities, including STEM pedagogy enhancement.
- Uphold MJA’s values, professionalism, and child safeguarding and safety standards, especially during experiments and hands-on activities.
Qualification
- Possess Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma in Early Childhood Education (or related).
Professional Qualification
Work Experience
- Minimum 2-5 years teaching experience (fresh graduates may be considered).
- Passion for working with young children.
Skills
- Creativity and patience.
- Strong classroom management.
- Ability to explain concepts simply and engagingly.
- Passion for STEM and early learning.
