Position Description:
Be part of Flowserve's innovation team, bringing new products to proof of concept demonstration and support the transition to our product launch teams. Our mechatronics engineers are responsible for developing & implementing controls strategies on complex and innovative mechatronic and digital solution ideas. You'll have active on-site collaboration with globally distributed development teams, customers and partners, driving topics relating to hardware concept and electronics development (specification, platform architecture, concept design, support partner for proof-of-concept and new product development and develop proof-of-concept electronics). The mechatronics technology platform team is placed in the Innovation & Growth organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Apply and expand the in-depth technical knowledge and expertise in complex projects that require mechatronics and digital solutions and apply technical knowledge and principles to develop innovative solutions.
- Expand knowledge by attending trade fairs, visiting possible technology partners and visiting Flowserve teams around the world
- Analyze state-of-the-art technologies to apply for the possible solution
- Analyze existing mechatronic products and digital solutions to find optimization and enhancement potential
- Consult and support other globally distributed development teams for mechatronics and digital solution development projects
- Be responsible for proof of concept systems and proof of value technology projects
Be a part of the electronics hardware development
- Using hardware (SPICE) and application (MATLAB/Simulink) simulation tools to evaluate the feasibility
- Experience with electronic control of mechanical systems
- Design concepts (e.g. modularity) for partner hardware development
- Develop enterprise platform architecture for mechatronics products and IoT HW solutions
- Develop enterprise hardware platform guidelines and concept descriptions for mechatronics products
- Support (define and review) the partner electronics hardware development
- Develop proof-of-concept industrial drive and low-power electronics
- Support our global electronics and digital product development teams
Qualifications:
- A university master’s degree in Mechatronics, Automation, Electronics or similar, with more than 4 years professional experience in mechatronics or electrical engineering is required.
- Experience in technology and innovation, with strong interest in exploring advanced technology for potential commercialization.
- Experience in developing and commercializing new products or solutions enabled by differentiating technologies and go-to-market strategies.
- Experience in research and innovation activities, with design thinking experience considered as an asset.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with ability to collaborate with multiple functions across businesses.
- Ability to work in a multinational and multicultural environment, work together with global distributed development teams (travel requirements: 20%)
- Language Requirement: English Level B2 or better
- Experience with measurement electronics development
- Experience with integration and using embedded hardware
- Experience with modern microcontroller technology and architecture
- Experience with modern motor and drive technology
- Experience with drive and process control theories
- Experience with modern field bus technologies and protocols
- Experience with functional/technical lead of development projects
- Experience using circuit and PCB design tools
- Experience with electronics product certification (EMC, LVD)
“Nice To Have” Skills and Experience:
- Experience with embedded C/C++ programming
- Experience with MATLAB / Simulink and SPICE simulation tools
- Experience with Python and JavaScript
- Pneumatic, hydraulic and/or Industrial background or demonstrable knowledge.
