Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and driven Database Engineer to own the full lifecycle of MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB, HBase, and HDFS systems—designing, deploying, tuning, and automating to ensure highly available, scalable, and reliable mission-critical data services.
Responsibilities
Design and architect database schemas and storage solutions across MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB, and HBase to meet business requirements
Implement and deploy database clusters, replication, and environment configurations to support operational needs
Monitor database performance and health metrics using proactive alerting and dashboards to detect and resolve incidents such as slow queries, replication lag, connection exhaustion, and data corruption
Optimize query performance, indexing strategies, and resource utilization to improve system efficiency and reliability
Maintain database systems through version upgrades, patch management, and backup/recovery testing to ensure long-term stability
Ensure high availability and disaster recovery by designing failover, hot-standby, and multi-region replication architectures
Drive scalability through sharding, partitioning, and capacity planning aligned with business growth objectives
Build end-to-end fault detection, root-cause localization, and self-healing capabilities to minimize business impact
Implement SQL auditing, slow query governance, index optimization, and execution plan analysis to protect database integrity
Design and develop software tools to automate management of large-scale database instances for operational efficiency
Collaborate with application development teams to diagnose performance latency, improve query efficiency, and enhance data reliability across services
Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation to ensure high availability and promptly resolve critical database issues
Required competencies and certifications
Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Programming, Science (Computer Studies), or related discipline
Proficient understanding of TCP/IP, data structures, algorithms, operating systems, networking, database systems, and computer architecture
Basic understanding of database theory and system architecture concepts including indexing, transactions, ACID, MVCC, Raft, sharding, CAP theorem, and high availability
Experience programming in at least one backend language such as Python, Golang, or Java
Ability to communicate effectively in Mandarin to support coordination with Mandarin-speaking stakeholders, teams, and business partners in China and other regional markets , as well as in English for general business communication.
Preferred competencies and qualifications
Familiarity with Unix/Linux operating systems and networking
Experience working with MySQL, Redis, MongoDB, HDFS, and HBase
