Responsibilities

Job Summary 

The Senior Account Executive is responsible for managing the Company's day-to-day accounting operations and ensuring accurate financial reporting in compliance with applicable accounting standards and statutory requirements. This role plays a key part in maintaining financial integrity, supporting business operations, assisting with budgeting and audits, and ensuring timely completion of month-end and year-end financial activities. 


Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting 

  • Manage the full set of accounts, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Fixed Assets. 
  • Prepare accurate monthly management accounts and financial reports. 
  • Perform month-end and year-end closing activities within the stipulated timeline. 
  • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and account adjustments. 
  • Ensure all accounting records are complete, accurate, and properly maintained. 

Financial Accounting 

  • Verify supplier invoices and supporting documents. 
  • Process supplier payments accurately and on time. 
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies. 
  • Maintain proper filing and documentation of payment records. 

Accounts Receivable 

  • Issue customer invoices and credit notes. 
  • Monitor customer collections and outstanding balances. 
  • Follow up on overdue payments. 
  • Perform customer account reconciliations. 

Bank & Cash Management 

  • Prepare bank reconciliations on a regular basis. 
  • Monitor daily cash flow and bank balances. 
  • Record and reconcile all banking transactions. 

Financial Reporting 

  • Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports. 
  • Assist in preparing annual budgets and financial forecasts. 
  • Analyse financial performance and identify variances. 
  • Provide financial information to management for decision-making. 

Tax & Statutory Compliance 

  • Prepare and submit SST-related documentation where applicable. 
  • Assist in corporate tax computation and tax schedules. 
  • Liaise with external tax agents and auditors. 
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements. 

Audit 

  • Prepare audit schedules and supporting documents. 
  • Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits. 
  • Resolve audit queries promptly. 

Internal Controls 

  • Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and procedures. 
  • Review accounting processes and recommend improvements. 
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial information. 
  • Support implementation of financial controls to safeguard company assets. 

System & Process Improvement 

  • Maintain accounting records within the accounting system. 
  • Assist in system implementation, upgrades, and process automation. 
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reporting accuracy. 

Team Support 

  • Provide guidance and mentoring to junior accounting staff. 
  • Review work prepared by junior team members where required. 
  • Assist the Finance Manager in departmental projects and initiatives. 

Other Duties 

  • Support management with ad hoc financial analysis and reporting. 
  • Perform any other duties assigned by Management from time to time. 


Job Specification 

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. Professional qualifications (ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or equivalent) are an added advantage. 
  • Experience: Minimum 4–6 years of relevant accounting experience. 
  • Experience handling a full set of accounts, audit, taxation, and financial reporting is preferred. 
  • Experience supervising junior staff is an advantage. 
  • Strong knowledge of Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS). 
  • Good understanding of taxation and statutory compliance. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel. 
  • Experience using accounting software such as AutoCount, SQL Account, SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. 
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to prioritise multiple tasks and meet deadlines. 
  • High level of integrity and professionalism. 
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
