Job Description

Responsibilities

The Hardware Engineer develops new electrical systems/circuits for various applications.  Research system ideas and draw up plans for these systems, and capture them in schematics and system specifications. Test, simulate, validate and qualify their systems and make adjustments as needed. Provide support throughout the manufacturing of the electrical systems they have designed.  

The Hardware Engineer works in cross functional teams with other designers, customers, manufacturing engineering and project leadership to ensure robust and high-quality product development. Enhance designs with feedback from reviews in areas such as manufacturing, test, supply chain, reliability, industrial design and simulations.

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

  • Work as a team member who understands/interprets technical problems and provides technical support.

  • Solve assigned problems under guidance of more senior engineers.

  • Design, modify and implement systems that meet customer and Celestica needs. e.g. creation of Schematics, Bills of material, diagrams, drawings, etc.

  • Keep up to date with relevant industry knowledge and regulations.

  • Liaison with suppliers, customers, contractors, and other internal teams.

  • Analyse and interpret data and information.

  • Recommend modifications for systems.

  • Create reports and documentation.

Candidates should have 3+ years' experience in either Network, Storage or Server products.

Candidates should have the following essential qualifications and experience:

  • At least BEng. (Hons.) in Electronics or similar

  • Basic electrical design and debug skills required

  • Familiar with PCIe, NVMe, SAS, SATA, I2C, SPI, DDR buses, SDRAM timing and integrity analysis for clocks, strobes, S&H, Power bounce, temp stability

  • Hands-on design knowledge of latest peripheral chipsets for Gigabit Ethernet, SCSI, SATA, SAS, USB, Ethernet, & PCI cards etc.

  • Proficient in using various test and measurement equipment including but not limited to Oscilloscope, Impedance analyzer, Power meter, Signal analyzer, Spectrum analyzer

  • Work with software teams to identify root cause of system failure

Knowledge of the following would be desirable:

  • Experience of working in medium sized multidisciplinary development teams

  • Orcad Schematics & Allegro PCB layout tools

Candidates with experience in the following areas will have an added advantage:

  • Working knowledge of windows & Linux configuration, installation procedure, network configuration, driver configuration etc.

  • Working knowledge of Diag, ONIE, BIOS, BMC, Linux and Windows operating systems

  • Knowledge of Ethernet Switches, Server, Storage products
