Responsibilities
Job Purpose
We are seeking a precise and self-motivated Mechanical System Drafter to produce accurate 2DCAD technical drawings and basic 3D layout models for mechanical engineering systems. Working closely with project engineers and BIM teams, you will translate engineering rough sketches, schematics, and design calculations intofully detailed shop drawings, installation layouts, and fabrication spools for HVAC, chilled water, piping, and mechanical ventilation systems.
Job Responsibilities
Detailed Technical Drafting:
Prepare and revise 2D/3D CAD drawings for mechanical building services, including HVAC ducting, chilled water piping, mechanical ventilation, compressed air, and fire protection layouts.
Shop Drawing & Spool Preparation:
Generate fully dimensioned, buildable shop drawings, builder's work details(penetrations/sleeves), equipment plant room layouts, and prefabrication spool drawings from engineering markups.
Drawing Standards & Maintenance:
Ensure all drafting work strictly adheres to company CAD standards, layer conventions, symbols, block libraries, and project-specific drafting guidelines.
Site Verification & As-Built Drawings:
Update working drawings based on site redlines, actual site measurements, and engineering variation orders to produce final, accurate As-Built drawings.
Cross-Disciplinary Checking:
Perform initial overlay checks against architectural and structural drawings to highlight routing clashes or spatial constraints prior to engineer sign-off.
Document Control:
Maintain clear drawing registers, manage drawing revision histories, and ensure correct filing of native CAD files and PDF transmittals.
Key Qualifications& Requirements
Education:
Diploma, Certificate, or Vocational Training in Mechanical Engineering, Technical Drafting, or Building Services.
Experience:
Minimum 2–4 years of drafting experience specializing in mechanical and electrical (M&E)building services or industrial mechanical installation projects.
Software Proficiency:
High proficiency in AutoCAD (2D/3D). Basic working knowledge of Autodesk Revit (MEP) or BIM modeling tools is highly desirable.
Technical Knowledge:
Solid reading/comprehension of mechanical schematics, P&IDs, piping isometric drawings, and ductwork symbols.
Attention to Detail:
High precision in spatial measurements, clear lettering, neat detailing, and consistent scale application.
Preferred Attributes
Familiarity with local building codes, mechanical drafting conventions, and authority submission formats.
Prior site drafting experience on commercial buildings, industrial facilities, or cleanroom projects.
