Professional Job Description

The Data Governance Manager will be responsible for establishing, managing, and continuously improving the organisation's enterprise-wide data governance framework. The successful candidate will work with business and technology stakeholders to define data ownership, improve data quality, establish governance standards, and ensure that critical data assets are managed consistently, securely, and effectively across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement the enterprise-wide data governance strategy, framework, policies, and standards.

Establish clear data ownership and stewardship models across business functions.

Lead and coordinate data governance committees and working groups.

Define processes for identifying, prioritising, and resolving data-quality issues.

Establish and maintain data governance policies, procedures, standards, and controls.

Oversee metadata management, data cataloguing, data lineage, and data classification initiatives.

Identify and manage critical data assets across the organisation.

Work closely with business and IT teams to improve data quality, accessibility, consistency, and usability.

Monitor compliance with internal data governance policies and applicable regulatory requirements.

Support data-privacy, security, and risk-management initiatives.

Develop training and awareness programmes for data owners, data stewards, and business users.

Establish data governance metrics and provide regular reports to senior management.

Evaluate data governance tools and technologies and recommend improvements.

Support data architecture initiatives to reduce data fragmentation and improve enterprise data management.

Drive continuous improvement of data governance processes and operating models.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Management, Business, or a related discipline.

5+ years of experience in data governance, data management, data quality, or a related field.

Strong understanding of enterprise data governance frameworks, processes, roles, and responsibilities.

Experience managing large-scale data governance programmes.

Strong knowledge of metadata management, data catalogues, data quality, and data lineage.

Experience working with business and IT stakeholders to establish data ownership and stewardship.

Understanding of data privacy, security, and regulatory requirements.

Strong analytical, documentation, project-management, and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and stakeholder-management abilities.

Ability to influence senior stakeholders and coordinate cross-functional teams.

Experience with data governance platforms and tools is an advantage.

Knowledge of data architecture and modern data-management practices is preferred.

Pay: $8,400.00 - $13,000.00 per month
