Job Summary:
We are looking for motivated, self-driven candidates to join a dynamic and highly collaborative team of scientists and engineers at BEARS (The Berkeley Education Alliance for Research in Singapore – a University of California center for research, graduate education, and innovation at Campus for Research Excellence and Technological Enterprise (CREATE)). The researcher will work closely with Prof. Kedar Hippalgaonkar (NTU) and Dr. Amol Amrute (A*STAR ISCE2). The successful candidate will contribute to research and development work in Machine learning (ML) and automation for catalysis research for decarbonization(CO2 conversion). Candidates with more extensive experience and specialized technical expertise may be evaluated for appointment at the Senior Research Engineer level.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Contribute to developing and applying ML algorithms for the discovery and optimization of catalytic performance.
Participate in Lab automation projects together with other researchers.
Contribute to the ideation and development of new catalytic materials for the conversion of small molecules to valuable chemicals and fuels, including CO2/CO conversion.
Prepare and characterize catalysts and participate in data analysis and interpretation.
Run catalyst reactions in various types of reactors for thermal catalysis (major), electrocatalysis, and plasma catalysis.
Document and maintain accurate test records and reports, prepare documents for technology disclosure, patent filing, and research publications.
Ensure adherence to departmental policies, safety guidelines, and compliance requirements.
Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and team members.

Requirements:
1 -2 years of relevant work experiences, with strong background in chemistry, chemical engineering, and/or material science, preferably with Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials, or Physics.
Knowledge and/or experience of using Process Engineering & Modelling programs such as Aspen HYSYS, ALOHA, and programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, C, HTML, SQL, and Excel VBA
Knowledge and/or experience in analytical methods, chemical and materials characterization, such as XRD, UV-Vis, NMR, FTIR.
Independent, diligent, professional, and demonstrating a positive work attitude.
