Java - Senior Algo Trading / Team Lead (Director Level)

This position as a Senior Java Developer and Team Lead sits within a high-performance algorithmic trading development team. The role focuses on leading technical innovations in electronic trading strategies within a fast-paced, front-office environment at a major financial institution. The role exists to optimise trading algorithms and drive strategic enhancements across the APAC region.

Role Overview

Leads and mentors developers in the APAC Algorithmic Development team, fostering innovation through the delivery of robust technical solutions. Develops a comprehensive understanding of existing trading strategies and analytics to improve automated trading performance. Collaborates closely with business and quant teams to shape product strategy, participates in agile development practices, and provides Level 2 production support to ensure system stability and efficiency.

Key Skills & Experience

Lead and mentor developers within the APAC Algorithmic Development team


Manage development and optimisation of electronic trading strategies using Java


Analyse and improve algorithmic trading systems and analytics


Collaborate with quantitative and business teams on strategy development


Contribute to agile development practices and partner with QA, Compliance, and Support teams


Provide Level 2 production support to maintain system stability and performance

Nice to Have

Familiarity with C# language


Knowledge of sequencer architecture


In-depth understanding of market microstructure in Asia or other global markets


Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Mathematics

Key Responsibilities
