Babington is a learning centre that teaches English to children from K1-P6 (3-12 years of age). Babington is one of the longest partner of Oxford University Press (OUP) and is Oxford's largest provider of their RWI by Oxford programme in Hong Kong. All teachers are native English speakers, officially trained, certified and accredited to teach our programmes, including RWI phonics programme by OUP.

- Bachelor’s degree OR Associate degree/Higher diploma equivalent, with TESOL/TEFL certificates
- Highly proficient speaking English teachers with a neutral accent. Candidates who possess a passable accent.
- Relevant teaching experience or working experience with children will be advantageous.
- Experience teaching synthetic phonics will be advantageous.

Roles & Responsibilities
- You will be employing our unique Babington teaching method to teach our powerful curriculum.
- You will be accountable for every one of your students and you will track and report on their performance to your centre manager.
- You will be expected to participate in centre events (student parties, Open Days or Experience Days, staff training).
- You will be expected to make a positive contribution to the team and school culture.
Teaching Hours
While we don’t state a specific in the contract as it reduces the centre's ability to be flexible to accommodate for situations. However, all our centre managers do well to keep the teaching hours to around 28 (give and take a few hours) during regular term time out of a 40 hours working week. During the summer programme (our peak season between mid-July to the end of August), you should expect to teach around 28-32 hours (give and take a few hours). Most teachers find that if taken an average over a period like 3 months, their hours are typically in this range.
- Student journalling
- Report writing
- Meeting with your centre manager to account for every single one of your students
- Updating parents periodically (once a month)
- Attend weekly meetings and daily team huddles
- Planning and preparing for special events such as parties and holiday programmes
- Participate in continuous professional development to further one's teaching career
Requirements
- Fluent English Speaker
- Teaching qualification of at least 100 hours TEFL / TESOL.
- NB: Immigration Department of Hong Kong will not approve your visa application if you do not have this as a minimum.
- Excellent spoken, written and grammar skills.
- University Undergraduate Bachelor Degree or higher.
- Confidence – able to present oneself to parents confidently.
- Presentable – you look like a professional teacher.
- Professionalism - excellent work ethics, courteous to colleagues, responsible and dependable character, a role model for children and a model educator who embraces the opportunity to teach all children.
- Experience (though we may consider candidates with less experience).
- Able to work with a range of children’s ages, from the ages of around 3 to 12.
- Teaching English to second language learners
