Responsibilities
A leading global bank is looking for a Director of Engineering to lead technology leadership and architecture across its regional engineering function, based in Singapore. This is a senior leadership role combining hands-on technical direction with the development of a high-performing regional team.
The Role
The Director of Engineering will own the technology architecture strategy and roadmap for the region, ensuring platforms are scalable, secure, and built to last. They will lead a regional engineering team of 20+, balancing strategic technical leadership with day-to-day people management, and will work closely with senior business and technology stakeholders to keep engineering direction aligned with the bank's wider priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and own the technology architecture strategy and roadmap for the region
- Lead, mentor, and grow a regional engineering team of 20+, building technical depth and succession
- Set and uphold engineering standards, architectural principles, and best practices across teams
- Partner with senior business and technology stakeholders to align engineering direction with organisational priorities
- Drive evaluation and adoption of new technologies, platforms, and ways of working
- Oversee delivery quality, technical risk, and governance across the regional engineering function
- Represent engineering in senior forums, contributing to broader technology strategy and decision-making
About You
- Proven experience in a senior engineering leadership role (Director / Head of Engineering or equivalent)
- Prior financial services experience is essential
- Strong track record in technology architecture and platform strategy at scale
- Experience leading and developing sizeable engineering teams (20+) across multiple locations or functions
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with credibility operating at senior levels
- Strong commercial and strategic thinking, balanced with technical depth
- Based in, or willing to relocate to, Singapore
