JOB SUMMARY

• The role is for a Senior Back-end Developer responsible for designing, developing, implementing, maintaining, and enhancing enterprise back-end applications and services. The candidate must be able to translate business requirements into robust, scalable, secure, and maintainable technical solutions.
• The role involves developing application services, APIs, system integrations, database solutions, and business logic while ensuring compliance with enterprise architecture, security, and development standards. The candidate is also expected to troubleshoot complex technical issues, conduct root cause analysis, optimize application performance, and provide technical guidance to development team members.
• The role requires the candidate to work closely with cross-functional teams, business stakeholders, solution architects, infrastructure teams, security teams, and vendors to deliver high-quality technology solutions that support business objectives and operational excellence.
• The candidate must have a broad understanding of business and technology and possess strong communication and problem-solving skills to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Main roles and responsibilities

• Solution Design and Development: Design, develop, implement, and maintain reliable, scalable, and secure back-end applications and services that meet business and technical requirements.
• Back-end Development: Develop application business logic, services, modules, and reusable components using appropriate programming languages, frameworks, and development standards.
• API Development: Design, develop, maintain, and enhance RESTful APIs and other web services to support application and system integration.
• System Integration: Develop and maintain integrations between internal and external systems using APIs, web services, middleware, and other appropriate integration technologies.
• Database Management: Design and optimize database structures, queries, stored procedures, and data access components to ensure data integrity and application performance.
• Performance Optimization: Analyze application performance, identify bottlenecks, optimize application components, and implement improvements to ensure reliability and scalability.
• Security: Implement secure coding practices and ensure applications comply with information security, data protection, authentication, authorization, and other applicable security requirements.
• Testing and Quality Assurance: Develop and execute unit and integration testing and support system, performance, security, and user acceptance testing activities.
• Troubleshooting and Support: Investigate and resolve application issues, perform root cause analysis, and provide Level 2/Level 3 technical support where required.
• Code Review: Review source code developed by team members and provide technical recommendations to ensure adherence to coding standards, security practices, maintainability, and performance.
• Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance, coaching, and knowledge sharing to other developers and contribute to continuous improvement of development practices.
• Deployment and Release: Collaborate with DevOps and infrastructure teams to support application deployment, release management, and CI/CD processes.
• Project Delivery: Participate in Agile/SCRUM activities including requirement analysis, sprint planning, development, testing, deployment, and retrospective activities.
• Stakeholder Management: Work closely with business users, product owners, solution architects, vendors, and other technical teams to understand requirements and deliver appropriate solutions.
• Documentation: Prepare and maintain technical documentation including system design, API specifications, technical procedures, and operational documentation.
• Technology and Industry Trends: Keep up to date with emerging technologies, development frameworks, cloud technologies, integration patterns, and software engineering best practices.
• Innovation: Evaluate and implement new technologies, tools, and development approaches through proof-of-concepts and continuous improvement initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
• Relevant professional certifications in software development, cloud computing, application architecture, or related technologies would be an advantage.
• Minimum 2–5 years of experience in back-end development for web and/or mobile applications.
• Extensive experience in developing and implementing enterprise web applications and back-end services.
• Experience working in Agile/SCRUM environments.
• Exposure to enterprise-scale applications and cross-functional collaboration.
• Experience in web and mobile technologies (minimum 5 areas):
• Cloud computing – Microsoft Azure, AWS, Oracle Cloud, etc.
• Back-end development – .NET/C#, Node.js, PHP, Python, Java, etc.
• API technologies – REST, SOAP, GraphQL.
• Database – Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.
• DevOps – Git, CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, etc.
• Security – OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SSL/TLS, authentication and authorization.
• Architecture – Microservices, SOA, event-driven architecture.
