Sofitel Damansara Kuala Lumpur Hiring! Full Time Safety - Security Officer in Federal Territory - Ricebowl

As a Safety & Security Officer at Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara, you will safeguard guests, employees, hotel assets and property. Your role is to maintain a safe environment, prevent risks, respond to emergencies, enforce hotel & legal safety & security policies, and ensure compliance with Malaysian occupational safety & health requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Patrol & Monitoring

• Conduct regular patrols (interior & exterior): guest floors, back-of-house, public areas, car parks, service entrances.
• Monitor CCTV, access control, alarms and ensure all systems operational.

Access Control & Visitor Management

• Manage entry/exit points; verify identification of employees, contractors, visitors.
• Control guest traffic, vehicle entries, deliveries, ensuring secure protocols are followed.

Emergency Response & Incident Management

• Respond to alarms (fire, intrusion etc.), medical emergencies, accidents or other security incidents.
• Assist with or lead evacuation procedures; liaise with Fire & Rescue Department or other relevant authorities.
• Investigate incidents, record observations, prepare reports.

Fire, Health & Safety Compliance

• Ensure fire safety equipment (extinguishers, hoses, alarms) are maintained, tested, and accessible.
• Perform risk assessments, hazard identification, preventive safety inspections.
• Support Occupational Safety & Health (OSH) initiatives, and ensure adherence to DOSH (Department of Occupational Safety & Health) regulations.

Training & Awareness

• Participate in / conduct safety drills, emergency response training (including guest safety, heartist safety).
• Provide safety briefings, monitor vendor/contractor safety compliance when on site.

Guest & Employee Relations / Customer Service

• Maintain a courteous, professional, calm demeanour in dealing with guests, employees, contractors.
• Assist guests in safety-related requests or emergencies.

Reporting & Record Keeping

• Keep logs of patrols, incidents, maintenance issues, safety observations.
• Submit incident reports with recommendations.
• Follow up on corrective actions.

Policy Enforcement

• Enforce hotel safety/security policies (including those of Sofitel / Accor), local laws, and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure compliance with sustainability, safety and health protocols (e.g. PPE, hygiene, risk assessments).

Requirements / Qualifications

• Minimum educational requirement: SPM (Malaysia) or equivalent. Additional certifications in Security, Occupational Safety & Health (OSH), First Aid, Fire Fighting, etc. are strong pluses.
• Prior experience: ideally 1-3 years in hotel security / safety role, preferably luxury/hospitality sector.
• Knowledge of Malaysian laws/regulations on fire safety, OSH, local permit or licensing requirements.
• Physical fitness and ability to work shifts (including nights, weekends, public holidays).
• Strong observation skills, integrity, reliability, ability to act decisively under pressure.
• Good communication skills (English is essential; Bahasa Malaysia helpful, other languages an advantage).
• Ability to use security tech systems (CCTV, alarms, access control), basic computer skills for reports.
