The Opportunity

As a Payroll Lead, you will be responsible for the accurate administration of payroll operations, including month and year end processing, payroll record management, and reconciliation of statutory obligations such as PAYG, superannuation, and payroll tax. You will be a key escalation point for complex payroll matters, provides technical guidance to Payroll Officers, drives consistency in payroll practices, leads process improvement and automation initiatives, and supports reporting as required.

This role leads payroll operations across Australia and supports payroll delivery across the broader regions, including Singapore, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, and Taiwan as needed.

This full-time, permanent role is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and reports to the Payroll Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide payroll expertise and act as a key escalation point for complex payroll matters, while providing technical guidance to Payroll Officers and promoting knowledge sharing across the team.
• Manage accurate and timely end-to-end payroll processing, reconciliations, statutory reporting, and audit support for Australia.
• Oversee payroll compliance across multiple jurisdictions, monitor legislative changes, and manage payroll risks and governance requirements.
• Drive payroll process improvement, standardisation, automation, and operating model enhancements across Australia.
• Build strong partnerships with HR, Finance, and external stakeholders to deliver scalable and efficient payroll operations.
• Support payroll operations across Singapore, Malaysia, the UK, and Taiwan when required, ensuring consistency and effective governance across regions.
• Assist with other ad-hoc payroll duties as required.

Qualifications

Tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, business or human resources.

Skills and Experience

• 7 – 9+ years’ experience in a similar role with multiple awards and/or Workplace Agreements.
• Multinational company experience with a focus on Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, Denmark and the UK.
• Strong working knowledge of payroll legislation and regulatory requirements
• Advanced excel skills, including data reconciliation, reporting and analysis
