Responsibilities
Technical Sales Executive (Passive Fire Protection)-open to Malaysia citizens only
Your main role are:
Drive specification sales, market development, project creation, technical support, and business growth for PROMAT Passive Fire protection solutions across assigned territories and markets.
While the initial responsibility will primarily focus on Malaysia, the role will progressively expand to support other Southeast Asian markets as business requirements evolve.
Focus on creating project opportunities through early engagement with architects, consultants, engineers, developers, contractors, distributors, and other key stakeholders.
The successful candidate is expected to build long-term customer relationships, identify new business opportunities, provide technical and commercial support, develop compliant passive fire protection solutions, and achieve sustainable sales growth while strengthening PROMAT's market presence.
What you'll do:
1) Sales & Market Development
Develop and execute business plans to achieve sales, specification and market development objectives.
Identify and develop new business opportunities, market segments and strategic customers within assigned territories and markets.
Expand PROMAT's market presence by promoting passive fire protection solutions to architects, consultants, engineers, developers, contractors, distributors and other key stakeholders.
Increase brand awareness through technical presentations, CPD programmes, seminars, exhibitions and industry engagement activities.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision makers and industry stakeholders.
Monitor competitor activities, market trends and industry developments to identify business opportunities and potential risks.
Gather and share market intelligence to support business planning and strategic decision-making.
2) Specification Sales & Project Development
Promote PROMAT passive fire protection solutions during the design stage to influence and secure product specifications.
Generate project leads and create demand through proactive customer engagement and specification activities.
Collaborate with architects, consultants and engineers to develop compliant passive fire protection solutions.
Conduct technical presentations, CPD seminars, lunch-and-learn sessions and product demonstrations to create brand demand.
Identify, qualify and manage project opportunities from specification through project award to maximise project conversion.
Prepare technical proposals, quotations and commercial submissions for projects.
Coordinate with distributors and contractors to maximise specification conversion into sales and ensure successful project delivery.
Maintain an accurate project pipeline and update CRM (Salesforce) regularly.
Monitor project progress and provide timely technical and commercial support throughout the project lifecycle.
3) Technical Support & System Development
Provide technical advice and recommendation on PROMAT passive fire protection systems.
Prepare technical proposals, system recommendations, drawings and project-specific solutions.
Support the development and localisation of passive fire protection systems to meet project requirements and local regulatory standards.
Support fire testing, engineering assessments, product certifications and technical approvals with internal technical teams, accredited laboratories and certification bodies.
Manage and maintain technical documentation, including test reports, certifications and regulatory approvals (e.g. BOMBA, SIRIM, CIDB and Lampiran C1, C2 and C3).
Conduct site inspections to verify installation quality and compliance with approved specifications and installation guidelines.
Deliver technical training to customers, distributors and approved applicators.
4) Customer Development & Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, distributors, approved applicators and key industry stakeholders.
Conduct regular customer visits to understand project requirements, identify new business opportunities and strengthen customer relationships.
Respond promptly to customer enquires and provide professional technical and commercial support.
5) Sales Performance & Reporting
Achieve set sales targets, specification targets and market development objectives.
Maintain accurate sales forecasts, CRM and project pipeline records.
6) Cross-Functional Collaboration
Collaborate closely with Regional Commercial, Technical, Marketing, Customer Service, and other internal teams to deliver customer-focused solutions.
Support exhibitions, seminars, technical workshops, product launches and marketing campaigns.
7) Continuous Improvement
Participate in technical, product and professional development programmes to enhance knowledge and competences.
What you'll bring
About you
Possess a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, or Business Adminstration.
2 to 5 years of working experience in technical sales, specification sales, or business development within the building materials, construction, or passive fire protection industry.
Prior experience in passive fire protection and specification selling is preferred.
Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify business opportunities and develop new markets.
Good understanding of project sales, specification selling and the construction project lifecycle.
Strong negotiation, influencing and relationship-building skills with consultants, architects, engineers, contractors and distributors.
Good technical aptitude with the ability to understand and recommend passive fire protection systems and solutions.
Ability to prepare technical proposals, quotations and commercial submissions.
Good planning, organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong customer service mindset with the ability to build long-term customer relationships.
Self-motivated, proactive, results-oriented, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
A collaborative team player with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional and regional teams.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
Proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia and other language would be an added advantage.
Valid Malaysian Driving License (Class D) and own transport, with willingness to travel extensively for customer visits, project meetings, site inspections and business development activities.
Any professional certification or training related to fire safety engineering, construction safety (CIDB Green Card), or professional sales management would be an advantage.
