Job Description

Responsibilities

You will be a key cog of the cocoa beans sourcing team, responsible for the purchasing and logistic activities of cocoa beans within the APAC region.

This function is an essential part of Barry Callebaut’s overall value chain – ensuring a consistent supply of cocoa beans to our manufacturing sites while considering cost, quality, delivery lead-time, etc.

Together with the trading director, a buying and shipment plan is devised for each crop season within the APAC region and you are required to work collectively as a sourcing team to achieve these targets. You will also be required to link well with multiple internal stakeholders across countries from finance, operations and quality as well as develop cordial business relationships with key suppliers to achieve commercial excellence.

The role is far from an individual role and requires a complete team effort to succeed. The team tasks need to be executed in a time-sensitive manner to achieve team KPIs such as EBIT and inventory targets.

About the role

  • Preparation and execution of commercial contracts ranging from pricing, quality, delivery terms, etc.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to understand operational and supply issues to drive improvement with suppliers.
  • Engage suppliers on performance review and quality claims, negotiate on settlement amounts and preparation of necessary paperwork.
  • Monthly and adhoc reporting of KPIs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve standard reports and dashboards and work with internal stakeholders to plan, implement and roll out these solutions.
  • Identify key business challenges, pinpoint commercial process inefficiencies, propose and drive solutions, present such issues and opportunities to senior stakeholders.
