Responsibilities

Company Description HOYA Electronics focuses on the development of advanced optical and extreme ultraviolet (EUV) photomask blanks, essential for manufacturing next-generation semiconductor chips. Role Description This full-time, on-site Application Engineering Engineer role is based at HOYA Electronics in Kulim. The role involves providing technical support to customers and internal teams on photomask blanks and related applications, including troubleshooting product and process issues. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate customer requirements, propose technical solutions, and support product qualification and implementation. Daily activities include performing testing and data analysis on materials and processes, preparing technical reports and documentation, and assisting in continuous improvement initiatives. The role may also require participation in customer visits, technical presentations, and coordination with development and production teams to ensure product performance and reliability.

Essential Responsibilities

• Support customer technical inquiries, product evaluations, qualification activities, and technical issue resolution. 

• Analyze manufacturing, process, and quality data to identify trends, abnormalities, root causes, and improvement opportunities. 

• Develop dashboards, reports, and visualization tools using Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Python, SQL, VBA, or similar platforms to support engineering decision-making.

• Conduct defect investigations and root cause analysis using structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why, DMAIC, and other continuous improvement tools.

• Support process, product, material, and equipment qualification activities. 

• Participate in quality, yield, productivity, and cost improvement projects.

• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and recommendations while collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders

Other Responsibilities

• Maintain engineering documentation, technical reports, and project records.

• Support departmental digitalization and automation initiatives to improve efficiency and data visibility. 

• Assist in developing dashboards, monitoring tools, and reporting systems for engineering analysis.

• Participate in technical presentations, benchmarking activities, and knowledge-sharing sessions. 

• Support internal and external audits, customer visits, and technical reviews.

• Perform additional assignments and special projects as directed by management.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Physics, or related Engineering discipline. 

• Fresh graduates are highly encouraged to apply.

• Up to 3 years of working experience in Application Engineering, Process Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Product Engineering, Quality Engineering, or related engineering functions. Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.

• Internship, industrial training, final-year project, research work, or personal projects involving Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Python, SQL, VBA, or similar analytical tools will be an added advantage.

Technical Skills:

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Experience with Power BI, Python, SQL, VBA, or similar data analysis and visualization tools is highly desirable and will be given priority consideration.

• Knowledge of quality and problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, DMAIC, SPC, FMEA, and DOE.

• Ability to analyze manufacturing and quality data to identify trends, root causes, and improvement opportunities.

• Experience in process qualification, validation, and continuous improvement activities.

• Good technical report writing and presentation skills.
