Responsibilities

Business Development Managers (F&B Export) - Bursa PLC

A. Export Market Development

  • Identify and prioritise potential export markets based on market size, consumer demand, pricing, regulatory requirements, competition and distribution potential.
  • Develop market-entry strategies for selected countries and regions.
  • Identify suitable importers, distributors, wholesalers, retailers, food-service operators and institutional customers.
  • Establish a strong customer pipeline through market research, exhibitions, trade missions, referrals, online platforms and direct outreach.
  • Prepare country-specific business development plans, sales targets and implementation timelines.

B. Distributor and Customer Development

  • Source, evaluate and appoint qualified overseas distributors and business partners.
  • Conduct background assessments on potential distributors, including financial capability, distribution coverage, customer network, warehouse facilities and sales experience.
  • Negotiate distribution agreements, territories, minimum purchase requirements, pricing, payment terms and performance targets.
  • Develop annual business plans together with appointed distributors.
  • Monitor distributor performance, inventory levels, market coverage, sales activities and payment collection.
  • Conduct regular meetings and business reviews with distributors and key customers.
  • Recommend corrective action or replacement where distributors fail to meet agreed targets.

C. Sales and Revenue Management

  • Achieve monthly, quarterly and annual export sales, gross profit and collection targets.
  • Prepare sales forecasts by customer, country, product and region.
  • Develop quotations, product proposals, commercial presentations and price offers.
  • Negotiate selling prices while protecting the company’s target gross profit margin.
  • Follow up on enquiries, samples, trials, quotations, purchase orders and commercial negotiations.
  • Maintain an updated sales pipeline showing opportunity value, probability, next action and expected closing date.
  • Coordinate with Finance to monitor customer credit limits, overdue accounts and payment risks.

D. FMCG Brand Development

  • Develop international markets for Group-owned brands, including other brands introduced by the Group.
  • Identify appropriate product positioning, pack sizes, price points and market channels for each country.
  • Work with distributors to develop promotional plans, sampling campaigns, product launches and trade marketing activities.
  • Secure product listings with overseas supermarkets, pharmacies, convenience stores, e-commerce platforms and food-service customers.
  • Monitor brand performance, consumer feedback, competitor activity and market pricing.
  • Ensure distributors follow the company’s brand guidelines and approved marketing materials.

E. OEM and Private-Label Development

  • Identify international OEM, ODM, contract manufacturing and private-label opportunities.
  • Understand customers’ product requirements, formulations, packaging formats, target costs and regulatory needs.
  • Coordinate with R&D, Production and Quality Assurance on product development, sampling and commercial trials.
  • Prepare commercial proposals covering product specifications, minimum order quantity, lead time, tooling, packaging, payment terms and product ownership.
  • Ensure customer expectations are clearly documented before commercial production.
  • Support the negotiation and execution of manufacturing, confidentiality, distribution and supply agreements.

F. Product and Market Research

  • Conduct market research on consumer trends, emerging products, competitor brands, pricing and distribution channels.
  • Recommend new products and product improvements based on international market demand.
  • Collect customer feedback regarding formulation, taste, packaging, shelf life, pricing and product performance.
  • Work with R&D and Marketing to adapt products for specific export markets.
  • Prepare competitor comparison reports and market opportunity assessments.

G. Regulatory and Export Coordination

  • Work with Quality Assurance and Regulatory teams to ensure products comply with the importing country’s requirements.
  • Coordinate product registration, label approval, ingredient declarations, nutrition information, certificates and supporting documents.
  • Ensure export documents are complete and accurate, including invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, health certificates and other required documents.
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain, Logistics and Production teams to ensure orders are delivered within the agreed timeline.
  • Monitor shipping arrangements, container utilisation, freight costs and delivery status.
  • Manage customer complaints relating to delivery, documentation, product quality or packaging together with the relevant departments.

H. Exhibitions and Business Networking

  • Represent Group at international food exhibitions, trade missions, business matching events and industry conferences.
  • Arrange meetings with potential customers, distributors and strategic partners.
  • Prepare exhibition objectives, customer meeting schedules, samples, brochures and commercial materials.
  • Follow up promptly on all leads generated from exhibitions and business events.
  • Prepare post-event reports showing leads, opportunities, estimated sales value and follow-up actions.

I. Internal Coordination

  • Coordinate closely with R&D, Production, Quality Assurance, Regulatory, Marketing, Finance, Purchasing and Logistics departments.
  • Provide accurate sales forecasts to support production and raw-material planning.
  • Ensure customer requirements are communicated clearly to all relevant departments.
  • Conduct internal project meetings for new customers, products and export-market launches.
  • Escalate commercial, operational or customer risks to management promptly.

J. Reporting

  • Prepare weekly export sales and business development reports.
  • Present monthly sales performance against budget and target.
  • Maintain updated reports covering:
  • Sales revenue and gross profit;
  • Customer and country performance;
  • Distributor performance;
  • Sales pipeline;
  • Outstanding quotations;
  • Samples and product trials;
  • Product registration status;
  • Outstanding payments;
  • Market issues and competitor activities.
  • Prepare annual export budgets and business development plans.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: RM6,000.00 - RM9,000.00 per month
