About the Job

On behalf of our client, we are seeking a proactive and dedicated Career Counsellor to provide career guidance, counselling and employment support to jobseekers. The role focuses on understanding individuals’ career interests, skills, qualifications and employment goals, while providing appropriate career advice, job matching and employment pathways.


Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Counseling, Career Development, or a related field.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience as a Career Counselor or in career guidance and employment advisory services.
  • Registered and certified counselor with a valid practising licence from the Lembaga Kaunselor Malaysia (LKM). (Must have)
  • Strong knowledge of career assessment tools, career matching methodologies, and labour market trends.
  • Experienced in providing career guidance and counselling to job seekers from diverse backgrounds and experience levels.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and counselling skills.
  • A strong team player who is able to collaborate effectively within a large team.
  • Willing to participate in career fairs, recruitment events, and employer engagement programmes.
  • Able to work on weekends, shifts, and travel when required by management.
  • Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.


Job Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one career counselling and guidance to job seekers by assessing their skills, interests, qualifications, and career aspirations.
  • Conduct career assessments and recommend suitable career pathways, training opportunities, and employment options based on career matching principles.
  • Guide job seekers in career planning, resume preparation, interview techniques, and job search strategies to improve employability.
  • Deliver career talks, workshops, and employability programmes for students, graduates, and experienced professionals.
  • Participate in career fairs, recruitment drives, outreach programmes, and employer engagement activities as the appointed Career Counselor.
  • Collaborate with employers and internal stakeholders to understand workforce requirements and support effective career matching initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate counselling records, case notes, reports, and documentation in accordance with professional standards and organisational policies.
  • Stay updated on labour market trends, emerging occupations, education pathways, and industry demands to provide relevant career advice.
  • Build strong relationships with educational institutions, employers, and strategic partners to enhance career development initiatives.
  • Ensure counselling services are delivered ethically, professionally, and in compliance with LKM standards.
  • Support departmental projects and perform any other ad hoc duties assigned by management from time to time.
