TRIIIO Recruitment is the official recruitment partner for this role
About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on Senior Technical Engineer to serve as the senior technical authority and domain owner for enterprise compute, virtualisation, and storage platforms.
In this role, you will lead infrastructure projects from design through to go-live, establish operational standards, and act as the highest level of technical escalation for major platform incidents. If you thrive on owning end-to-end platform lifecycle management, designing robust disaster recovery strategies, and driving cloud modernisation, this is the right challenge for you.
Key Responsibilities
Server & Virtualisation Infrastructure
- Design, deploy, and maintain enterprise server infrastructure and virtualisation platforms (VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, Nutanix AHV).
- Administer Windows Server and Enterprise Linux environments, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Certificate Services, and Group Policy.
- Execute OS and hypervisor hardening, performance tuning, capacity planning, and platform high availability (clustering, host redundancy, live migration).
- Produce and review High-Level/Low-Level Design (HLD/LLD) documents, build guides, and Method of Procedures (MOPs).
Storage & Data Infrastructure
- Provision, configure, and manage enterprise storage systems (SAN, NAS, HCI) and storage fabrics (iSCSI, Fibre Channel, NFS, SMB).
- Design storage tiering, snapshot policies, and replication topologies based on performance and retention requirements.
- Monitor storage capacity, throughput, and latency; manage storage firmware lifecycles and software upgrades.
Backup, Replication & Disaster Recovery
- Design, implement, and maintain backup and replication solutions aligned with strict Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO).
- Co-own and execute the disaster recovery (DR) programme, including scheduled restore tests, DR runbook design, and risk logging.
Cloud Compute & Migration
- Lead public and private cloud compute/storage design (Azure, AWS, Private Cloud).
- Plan and execute workload migrations, including sizing, cutover planning, and rollback design.
- Monitor cloud consumption, optimize licensing, and implement cross-region resilience.
Technical Leadership & Operations
- Act as the senior L2/L3 escalation authority for major platform incidents, performing root cause analysis (RCA) to drive permanent resolutions.
- Partner with Project Managers to scope, estimate effort, and deliver complex infrastructure projects.
- Establish baseline configuration standards, SOPs, and runbooks to transfer operational knowledge effectively.
Requirements
Mandatory Prerequisites:
- Experience: Minimum 5–8 years of hands-on enterprise systems, virtualisation, and storage engineering experience.
- Core Certification: Active professional-level certification (e.g., VMware VCP-DCV, Microsoft Azure Administrator, Windows Server Hybrid Administrator, or Nutanix NCP).
Technical Skills:
- Deep expertise in hypervisor administration, host upgrades, and performance tuning.
- Proven track record in SAN/NAS provisioning, storage expansion, and Fibre Channel zoning.
- Practical experience executing data restores, DR testing, and defining RPO/RTO metrics.
- Strong administration skills in Active Directory, Certificate Services, Group Policy, and production Linux (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu).
- Familiarity with scripting/automation tools (PowerShell, Python, Ansible) and network connectivity troubleshooting.
Preferred Certifications:
- Storage (NetApp, Dell EMC, Huawei)
- Backup/DR (Veeam VMCE, Commvault)
- Cloud (Azure/AWS Associate or above)
