About the role
Sediacom Sdn Bhd is seeking a dedicated Project Engineer/Supervisor to join our construction project management team in Melaka. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in support and coordinate the planning, technical execution, site supervision and completion of Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD), underground ducting and cabling projects, ensuring that works are carried out safely, efficiently and in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, project schedules and client requirements.

Project Engineer (3 Position available)

• Assist the Project Manager in coordinating the technical aspects of HDD and underground cabling works.

• Assist in preparing and reviewing method statements, work procedures, inspection requests and technical documentation.

• Coordinate with consultants, clients, subcontractors and site teams on technical and construction matters.

• Conduct site verification and identify existing underground utilities, potential clashes and site constraints before work commencement.

• Coordinate with relevant parties regarding HDD crossings, underground utilities, cable routes and other technical requirements.

• Review and interpret HDD alignment drawings, construction drawings, utility plans, cable routes and technical specifications.

• Review and update as-built drawings, HDD profiles, cable routes and site records.

• Monitor work progress and highlight technical issues, delays or deviations to the Project Manager.

• Assist with inspections, testing and handover documentation.

• Prepare and coordinate supporting documentation for subcontractor and client progress claims, variation claims and payment submissions.

Project Supervisor (3 Position available)

• Supervise, coordinate and monitor daily HDD progress, underground ducting, cabling and related civil works at project sites.

• Monitor HDD activities including pilot drilling, reaming, drilling fluid management, duct installation and pullback.

• Coordinate daily site manpower, equipment, materials delivery and machinery activities including daily record

• Ensure site activities follow approved drawings, method statements, specifications and instructions.

• Conduct regular site inspections and report safety, quality or construction issues.

• Check HDD drilling alignment, depth, crossing points and pullback activities and report abnormalities to the Project Engineer

• Report site delays, equipment breakdowns, material shortages and other site constraints to the Project Engineer/Project Manager.

• Assist with site measurements, inspections, testing and verification of completed works.

• Provide site information and records required for progress reporting and as-built documentation.

Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering or a related field.

• Minimum 2–5 years of relevant experience in construction, HDD, underground utilities, cabling, telecommunications infrastructure or related works.

• Experience in Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) will be an advantage.

• Knowledge of HDD processes including pilot drilling, reaming, drilling fluid management and pullback.

• Experience in underground ducting, cable installation, utility crossings or related infrastructure works is preferred.

• Able to read and interpret construction drawings, HDD profiles, utility plans and cable route drawings.

• AutoCAD/CAD proficiency is preferred, particularly for the Project Engineer scope.

• Good knowledge of construction site safety, quality requirements and work procedures.

• CIDB registration/certification and relevant construction safety training will be an advantage.

• PW1/PW2/PW3/PW4 or other electrical competency certification will be an advantage where relevant to the project scope.
