Job Description

Responsibilities

Our client is an established international organisation within the energy and commodities sector. They are looking for an experienced LNG Cargo Operator to manage physical cargo movements, shipping activities and contractual obligations across both term and spot transactions.

This role works closely with trading, chartering, risk, legal and finance teams to ensure each cargo is executed safely, accurately and within the agreed contractual timeline.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the full lifecycle of physical LNG cargo operations, covering lifting and discharge schedules, cargo nominations and vessel movements.
  • Coordinate annual and monthly delivery programmes with suppliers and buyers, including the Annual Delivery Programme and subsequent schedule adjustments.
  • Ensure operational notices and contractual deadlines, including cargo nominations and vessel ETA updates, are issued accurately and on time.
  • Oversee shipping activities for chartered vessels and coordinate with terminals, counterparties, ship agents, inspectors and other service providers.
  • Confirm that the required financial securities, documentation and operational arrangements are in place before cargo execution.
  • Calculate and negotiate laytime, demurrage, boil-off and gas consumption claims, ensuring operational costs and exposures are properly captured and recovered.
  • Support the negotiation and review of operational terms for term and spot LNG agreements, including SPAs, MSAs and charter-party contracts.
  • Act as the main operational contact between traders and internal functions such as chartering, risk management, legal and finance.
  • Maintain accurate deal, pricing and shipment information within the relevant trading and operational systems.
  • Ensure complete operational records are retained to protect the organisation’s contractual, legal and financial interests.
  • Build effective working relationships with internal stakeholders, counterparties and service providers to support smooth cargo execution.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.
  • At least 5 years of experience within the oil and gas, energy trading or commodities sector.
  • A minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience managing LNG cargo operations independently would be advantageous.
  • Good understanding of the LNG cargo lifecycle and key commercial agreements, including SPAs, MSAs and charter-party terms.
  • Strong numerical and analytical ability, with experience reviewing schedules, operational costs and cargo-related claims.
  • Proficient in spreadsheets and comfortable working with trade support or commodity management systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to coordinate across multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented and able to manage several time-sensitive cargo activities within a fast-moving trading environment.
  • Collaborative, dependable and willing to take ownership of operational matters through to completion.
