Role Summary
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Staff Nurse – Ward to provide high-quality nursing care to patients with musculoskeletal injuries and conditions. The role involves pre- and post-operative care, pain management, wound care, mobility support, patient education, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to support patient recovery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide safe and individualized nursing care to orthopaedic patients, including those with fractures, joint replacements, sports injuries, and spinal conditions.
- Perform patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and administer medications and IV therapies as prescribed.
- Provide pre- and post-operative nursing care, including wound care, dressing changes, drain care, and pain management.
- Monitor patients for complications and promptly report any changes in their condition.
- Assist patients with mobility, positioning, transfers, and the safe use of orthopaedic aids.
- Collaborate with doctors, physiotherapists, and other healthcare professionals to support patient recovery and rehabilitation.
- Educate patients and family members on post-operative care, mobility precautions, and rehabilitation.
- Maintain accurate nursing documentation and ensure effective handover between shifts.
- Adhere to infection control, patient safety, and hospital policies and procedures.
- Participate in training, clinical audits, ward activities, and continuous professional development.
Requirements:
- Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid Annual Practising Certificate (APC).
- Nursing experience in an inpatient, orthopaedic, or clinical setting is an advantage.
- Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Good nursing, patient assessment, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Compassionate, patient-focused, and a strong team player.
- Willing to work on rotating shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
