Responsibilities

Senior Executive / Executive, Group Health Underwriting


Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical professional to join our Group Health team. The successful candidate will support underwriting operations, portfolio management, and business growth initiatives while ensuring service excellence and profitability.


Key Objectives

  • Support the Group Health team in achieving targeted Turnaround Time (TAT) and accuracy levels.
  • Ensure daily operations are carried out within established service standards.
  • Support Business Units in achieving Gross Written Premium (GWP) targets.
  • Maintain underwriting performance within the Company's target loss ratio.
  • Perform underwriting for Group Health business.
  • Provide sales and marketing support through product launches, campaigns, and preparation of marketing materials.


Key Responsibilities


1. Underwriting & Portfolio Management

  • Underwrite new and renewal Group Health business while maintaining a balance between business growth and profitability.
  • Manage portfolio risks to support sustainable and profitable growth.
  • Monitor and manage claim recovery activities for Group Health Scheme (GHS) accounts.

2. Stakeholder Engagement & Business Support

  • Provide product and policy training to corporate clients, agents, and brokers at Headquarters and nationwide branches when required.
  • Conduct visits to corporate clients, brokers, and agency partners when necessary.
  • Support Business Units with underwriting and sales-related matters.

3. Operational Excellence

  • Ensure policies and endorsements are issued and delivered within the stipulated turnaround time.
  • Support resource planning and team coordination to achieve service excellence.
  • Assist in ensuring underwriting TAT and accuracy targets are consistently met.


Requirement


Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline.
  • AMII, ACII, DMII, or equivalent insurance professional certification is an added advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in insurance underwriting or a similar role.
  • Experience in Group Health underwriting is preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Meticulous with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret data and understand its business implications.
  • Customer-oriented with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia (written and spoken).
  • Proficiency in additional languages will be an advantage.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly in:
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Microsoft PowerPoint
