Job Summary

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with strong experience in Java and Node.js to design, develop, and maintain scalable enterprise applications. The ideal candidate embraces modern AI-assisted (“vibe”) coding practices to accelerate development while maintaining a strong commitment to code quality, security, performance, and maintainability through rigorous code reviews and engineering best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend applications using Java and Node.js.
• Architect scalable, secure, and maintainable software solutions for enterprise environments.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity while ensuring all AI-generated code is thoroughly reviewed, tested, and meets engineering standards.
• Conduct code reviews, enforce coding standards, and champion software quality across the development team.
• Write clean, well-documented, maintainable, and testable code with comprehensive unit and integration tests.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and optimise application performance.
• Collaborate closely with Product, DevOps, Infrastructure, and other engineering teams to deliver high-quality software.
• Participate in solution design, technical planning, architecture discussions, and technical decision-making.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of continuous learning, engineering excellence, and accountability.
• Continuously evaluate new technologies, frameworks, and AI-assisted development practices that improve team productivity without compromising software quality.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java and Node.js.
• Experience building RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, software design patterns, and clean architecture principles.
• Solid experience with relational databases and SQL.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile software development methodologies.
• Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in globally distributed engineering teams across multiple time zones, delivering high-quality software in Agile environments.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including Product, DevOps, and Engineering, across different countries and cultures.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience working in remote, geographically distributed Agile teams.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical discussions, drive alignment, and mentor engineers within distributed development teams.
• Experience with Kafka or other event-driven architectures.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or OCI.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, Oracle, or NoSQL databases.
• Familiarity with automated testing frameworks, performance tuning, and application monitoring.
• Experience using AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or ChatGPT to improve developer productivity while maintaining high engineering standards.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: RM3,500.00 - RM5,500.00 per month
