Role Description The Japanese Language Teacher role is a contract position based in Singapore with a hybrid work arrangement, combining on-site teaching with some work-from-home flexibility. The teacher will plan and deliver engaging Japanese language lessons for JLPT preparation and conversational courses, following the academy’s curriculum and learning objectives. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing lesson materials, conducting classes in small groups or one-on-one, assessing student progress, and providing constructive feedback. The teacher will also adapt teaching methods to different learning styles, maintain accurate records of attendance and performance, and participate in occasional meetings or training sessions. Collaboration with the academic team to refine course content and support student retention is expected.

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in Japanese (native or near-native level), with clear and accurate grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation.
• Experience teaching Japanese as a foreign language, preferably in classroom or online settings, with familiarity in JLPT levels and requirements.
• Ability to design and deliver structured lessons, create teaching materials, and adapt content for both exam-focused and conversational courses.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage learners of diverse ages, backgrounds, and proficiency levels.
• Comfort with hybrid teaching, including use of online platforms, digital tools, and basic technology for remote instruction.
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Languages, Linguistics, or related field; formal training or certification in teaching Japanese (e.g., Japanese teaching qualification) is an advantage.
• Strong organizational skills, reliability in managing schedules, and a learner-centered approach that supports student motivation and progress.
• Knowledge of Japanese culture and ability to integrate cultural topics into lessons to enhance learner engagement.
