Responsibilities

Mechanical Design & Industrialization Engineer (Remote)


About the role

Our client is looking for a Mechanical Design & Industrialization Engineer to support medical device development and manufacturing projects. The role covers the full engineering cycle, from mechanical design and prototyping through testing, design optimization and transfer to manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities


  • Develop mechanical designs, 3D models and detailed engineering drawings.
  • Translate product requirements into practical and manufacturable mechanical solutions.
  • Apply DFM/DFA principles and support design reviews prior to manufacturing.
  • Support prototype builds, testing, troubleshooting and design improvements.
  • Work with suppliers and contract manufacturers during prototype and production phases.
  • Prepare technical documentation, BOMs and engineering specifications.
  • Collaborate with engineers, manufacturing, quality and other cross-functional teams.
  • Support industrialization/NPI activities and ensure designs can be manufactured efficiently.
  • Participate in project coordination and communicate technical requirements with internal and external stakeholders.
  • As the KL team grows, act as a local technical engineering contact and work closely with the Singapore team.


Ideal Background


  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related discipline.
  • Approximately 3–8 years of mechanical design and/or industrialization experience.
  • Strong SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD experience.
  • Experience with product development, machinery, automation, precision engineering, manufacturing or similar industries.
  • Good understanding of DFM/DFA and manufacturing processes.
  • Hands-on experience with prototyping, testing or production support is advantageous.
  • Good English communication skills; Mandarin or Bahasa Malaysia is an advantage.
  • Medical device experience and knowledge of ISO 13485/design controls are advantageous but not essential.
