The Duty Manager is responsible for overseeing the hotel’s daily operations during the assigned shift, ensuring excellent guest service, smooth coordination between departments, and prompt handling of operational or guest-related matters.
The ideal candidate should be professional, approachable, confident and guest-focused, with strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee Front Office and overall hotel operations during the assigned shift.
- Ensure guests receive a warm welcome and consistently high level of service.
- Handle guest feedback, complaints and service recovery professionally and promptly.
- Support and guide Front Office associates in daily operations.
- Conduct hotel and lobby rounds to ensure operational, safety and service standards are maintained.
- Coordinate closely with Housekeeping, Security, Engineering, F&B and other departments on guest and operational matters.
- Manage guest incidents, emergencies and unusual situations according to hotel procedures.
- Monitor VIP arrivals, special requests, room assignments and guest preferences.
- Ensure proper shift handover and accurate communication of outstanding matters.
- Assist with check-in, check-out and Front Desk operations during peak periods when required.
- Ensure compliance with hotel policies, SOPs, grooming standards and service standards.
- Prepare Duty Manager reports and record significant incidents or operational matters.
- Perform any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Management.
Requirements:
- Diploma or Degree in Hospitality Management or related field is preferred.
- Minimum 2–3 years of Front Office experience, preferably with supervisory or Duty Manager experience in a hotel.
- Strong guest service and problem-solving skills.
- Good leadership and team coordination abilities.
- Good command of spoken and written English and Bahasa Malaysia.
- Pleasant personality with a welcoming, friendly and professional approach.
- Able to remain calm and make sound decisions when handling guest complaints or emergencies.
- Knowledge of hotel Property Management Systems (PMS) will be an advantage.
- Willing to work on rotating shifts, weekends and public holidays.
